Difficult times when we are all locked down but if you have a project that needs finishing... Sadly I can't go near it but Peter has been cracking on!
After several attempts on a fibre glass boot he's struggled to make one fit properly so back to the original and modify.
After cutting holes for engine bay cooling they are being finishing off with ali.
Also further work on the rear cover in FG 3rd version now not quite fitting as we want yet but will get there.
Also more work on the front tidying up.

Like the idea of this thanks. Will look into it.Ref roll bar, initially I did not want one and prefer the look without but on the basis my kids want to drive the car too then yes it will almost certainly have one, probably as per below.

I think someone mentioned early on in the thread that the rust on the bonnet would reappear, you were right...

Pleased that you are getting a roll bar fitted
A few years ago I had an original 1970 Lotus Elan SE DHC, which was fully restored by my uncle, and which I ran for over 12 years including a European Trip to Switzerland.
One of the first things I did was to get a Spyder roll hoop/side impact bar/front footwell bar kit and a pal who is a Lotus race mechanic and I fitted it.
When they designed the Elan in the 60s it was all about lightness, so the only steel was the chassis, and that went down the centre of the car ! So there was no steel in the doors or sills at all - just thin fibreglass!!
The windscreen surround was also flimsy, the accepted practice was never to lean too heavily on the frame as it would flex...!!!
Weight all in was about 750kg and when I occasionally had a passenger I noticed the difference in performance !
Hence when I saw your design I thought it should have some sort of protection.
I have followed this since day one, amazing amount of energy and thought must have gone into it, and quite a lot of 'trial & error' as well.
The rear engine cover looks really good and will be stunning in the metallic green when finished.
Presumably you have some sort of rain protection under the 'air holes' or is it a dry weather only car !
Keep the updates coming if at all possible

I can't really emphasise enough that Peter should take 99pct of the credit for this, I am the funding (and perhaps 50pct of the ideas) behind this little car, all the real hard work is being done by him, it is a lot of trial and error but I am very pleased how it is turning out.
That Citroen, what a cool little thing, I've always loved 'concept cars' so hopefully this turns out a little but like one.
An Elan is a car I'd love to own but they are just too far out of reach for me now as a 'toy' I reckon this might well come in at around 600 kilos so nice and light but it wont have the go quite like an Elan that's for sure.
The rear boot holes wont have any other form of cover underneath as I don't think they need one, there is only really engine and minimal electrics if any there to be affected by rain and bar being caught out it will only ever see dry days, otherwise a golf umbrella will suffice!
