The Focus has been acting as a removal van today, still some stuff to bring tomorrow. Notified the insurance company of the move, the premium has gone up by £20 a year which isn't too bad.

Thanks Peanut Gallery, you certainly can, the Mrs always complains I take too long packing cars, shopping etc but I always try to get as much in as possible.

Excellent. With the house move my commute has fallen from 20 miles a day round trip to about 5, though I so have a number of trips planned for the year, as well as those mentioned previously we will be going to Haworth next month to ride behind Flying Scotsman.

Fitted a new battery to the main remote fob today as the car started coming up with a no key detected message

Fingers crossed that works - mine comes up with "key battery low" rather than no key detected!

(Usually done when on holiday, on a Sunday, and with a MIL in the car that thinks the car is going to fall apart any second because it has more than 20k miles on it)

Normally I have both keys on me, typically the one time I didn't because a friend of mine and I were going to the airport to catch a plane was the time it decided to play up. By getting in and out of the car a few times it got it to work and on the way back from the airport after the holiday it was fine and has been fine since, so maybe it was just protesting I was leaving it for a few days, who knows? We went to Krakow and visited Auschwitz while we were out in Poland,a very interesting and moving trip. It was my first trip to Poland and won't be my last.

Next weekend I've a couple of days away in the Focus going to see a couple of old airfields down south then a week or so after that a trip to the tank museum at Bovington is planned, next month I'm also hoping to get down into Somerset with the camera at some point, so all in all the Focus will probably do around 1800-2000 miles over the next 5 weeks or so.

Hark at you getting out and about!!
I've heard lots of good things about Poland, and everyone who's visited Auschwitz has said it's very emotional.

Yes it was very moving, it's a trip I've wanted to do for years and am glad I went.

Although I have not been to Auschwitz, I have been to a much smaller site and it was very emotional.

I have heard that if you hold the key right next to the start button it can connect to the key without any battery input - just an idea if you get stuck again!

Thanks I will bear that in mind. I have previously been to Sachsenhausen Concentration camp near Berlin many years ago and as part of this trip we went to the former Ghetto in Krakow, the Schindler factory and the site of the former Plaszow Concentration camp, all of which were interesting and moving sites as well though Auschwitz was the most emotionally draining site.
