The wing will help on trackdays slightly - but at least it doesn't detract from performance lol. I just think it looks the part!

I will sort out a splitter! It is on the list I promise.

It doesn't do much aero-wise but I was looking at one of these.....

http://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/product/scirocco-iii...

However I fully know it doesn't do much, I may make one from Marine Plywood and mount it off the crash bar or something. I have an idea about making a huge splitter that runs underneath the car, and bolts to the 3 threaded bolts at the back of the undertray, and then some supports from the front chassis legs or more likely the crash car, with access holes underneath so I can do an oil change without dropping the whole thing... I will check with Alex.

I already have the GT24/VLN/N24 whatever you want to call it bonnet... the real GT24 cars run something like 11 inch wheels front and rear with wide arch extensions. I can buy them buy it's 6000 Euros..plus bodywork costs.. um no thanks. I can get stock width GT24 style wings in carbon fibre so I may just do that, or I can buy them in Fibreglass and paint them body colour - not sure.

Hi Simon, glad you're back in a car and all well :-)

Before it was on stock fuel pump and would get intermittent limp mode because we were asking more than the fuel pump could deliver. Now we have new fuel pump so an extra 30% fuel and another 0.3 bar boost.

It's between 255 and 275 now.. depends on how hot it is and how soon the EGT limiters kick in. We need more fuel and better head airflow so larger injectors and ported head are next and should be a repeatable 310-320bhp.

Looking forward for the morning drive!! smile

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
It does get a bit light over the rear especially when braking from high speed. I have Aston DB9 calipers up front and put S3 (310mm) rears on to try and balance. It did help but still can do with a bit more.

The wing probably won't help much but looks cool nevertheless :-)

Have you considered water / methanol injection? Could help with its me and exhaust temps (esp running meth) as well as provide some additional fuel.

Also could you give a breakdown of the power orientated mods you have done?
Yes that is something I am looking to do! Should have had it sorted sooner than that to be honest but I've been looking for a new ECU

Power mods are
GTB2260 turbo
Tubular manifold
Swirl flap delete
EGR and egr cooler deletes
CP3 hpfp upgrade
THS intercooler and hard boost pipe kit
3 inch TBE exhaust
Revo intake

Wing looks fine!

Hate the stickers though! I have less on my racecar haha!
The more stickers the more racecar!

So after extensive high speed testing it is defo adding something to the rear. Absolutely planted at 1.2 mph around some corners that otherwise had a bit of lightness at the back end.

So I'm happy.

Will sort a big front splitter out soon.

No further updates at the moment.
I may change my intercooler for a proven better one. Issue is volume of air moved by the turbo makes high ait.

New cylinder head and injectors will be a winter project i think.

My dad has a octy vrs facelift. He has moat of the same suspension modifications i have and it drives great. He also has a Stage 1 revo remap on it and its pretty punchy. It also has a huge boot, i think you can fit more in the hatchback than the estate.

Mine drives like a heavily turbocharged petrol petrol. It builds up peak power from about 3500rpm to 4900rpm, redline is 5k. I just prefer the way a diesel drives to he honest as most of the power's where you need it.

Tsi tuning options are limited unfortunately, and TFSI was not available in the car. Aside from in the Scirocco R but i had 9k to spend so an R was double the price. I got this over 2 years ago for 8k, some £1500 - £2000 under the private sale price of any equivalent car so I guess it evens out well.

I would have prefered an R but money and all that :-)

Not sure on the michelin man now though...thinking of making taking off the large one on the rear.

Anyway, went to Santa Pod yesterday, had a good day.

Set a new PB, 13.6 @ 102.

I'm sure I could get to a 13.4 but I didn't want to break the car and I was happy to finally get into the 13s. Had a bit of luck with launching smile

Good times, those ought to shut a few people up who think your project diesel is a waste of time.

This is Pistonheads, people will always think it's a waste of time. Because it's up to them how you spend your money lol.

With some sticker tyres and some faffing with pressures I am fairly confident I could have gotten a 2.0 60 ft time and 13.3-13.4 but you have to know when to stop going. I seem to break cars at Pod quite often having snapped a driveshaft on the Scirocco and blowing a gearbox on my old Golf TDI.

Not the fastest thing in the world but certainly quick enough. I've driven to Liverpool and back from Newbury twice in the last 2 days and averaged 55mpg (oh you bought a diesel for mpg blah blah blah blah).

There are no injectors available for this engine yet but again on the leading edge of development I am in conversation with one of Europe's largest suppliers to get some custom made with duration maps provided so we can actually get them running. We also have cams on the way, I'm told, and we will be porting a second cylinder head.

I am very blessed to have such a good partner in my tuner Bobby as without him I would not be able to make half of the progress we are making. He has been amazing.

Yes they were but it was on both lanes.
I did a day at VW Action last year, and this was a competition test team day, they glued the surface, my 60ft time was about the same. But I also snapped a driveshaft so....

I think if I was running 15 or 18psi I may have saved another 1/10th.

When I fit an LSD combined with semi slicks it will be feasible to get a 2.0 or 1.9 60ft time.

Also my camshafts have arrived. Off to be re profiled! Yay.

No worries.

I don't really mind some people don't like how it looks. Everything is functional (except the stickers lol)

One of my diesel tuning buddies took a video of my PB run.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaDKnjR6LE4

Notice the pretty much lack of smoke.

The Mk2 was a VWDRC car and did 12.1 @ 113 for reference.

I guess so? I think it sounds nice and lots of people compliment me on the sound (not that I've really done anything to make it sound nice lol, the exhaust was for flow).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-NdaoB8Ll0&t=...

That's another video of how it sounds, however that was ages ago, on the stock turbo with a different ECU tune (now the larger turbo has a more deep tone and less whistle)

I am not sure if any upgraded ones are available. My shaft was fine, it sheared at the end where you bolt into the hub.

So some of you may have spotted the smokey Scirocco on track on Sunday at Silverstone.

Pics below from Mr Teagles.

Car behaved itself well.
PS4's were brilliant on the front, stuck well but did feel a bit roly poly.
AD08R were good on the back, back end was dead planted. I think with 245/40 AD08R on the front it will really help.
Currently we are 235/40 F and 245/40 R.

When I ran 245/40 Direzza 03g it was so planted, but they are too expensive for daily use so while I only have 1 set of tyres I think the AD08Rs are a great compromise.

I've moaned about it elsewhere but oil temps are driving me mental.
I am booked in early November with Alex for oil cooler.

Once that's in I should be fine and able to keep on it a lot more.

Also my EGT protection was kicking in a lot, repeated long hard pulls get a bit much for it (understandable really).

i have specified when we port the head we fit oversized valves we are going up 0.8/0.9mm i believe.
Not sure what difference it will make and it's double the price as the valves are around 60EUR each but balls out and all that.

Only one way to find out...
FIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT?

I am popping down to Surrey Rolling Road on the 12th of November if anyone would like to come say hi / chat / watch loads of diesels being dynoed.

I am meeting up with Bobby (my tuner and performance guru) who has done some more bits to his car and also we are going to run my car without any EGT protection and a very smokey 0.9 lambda map for sts and giggles.

The reason we are doing this is that at lambda 1.1-1.2 we have a pretty clean tune with low smoke (as you can see on the videos from Santa Pod).
When Inlet Temps get hot we do get some haze but not too bad.

We have 880c EGT protection which means after this it cuts fuel to limit EGT to "you can pound round a track all day and not blow it up" levels. (this reduces peak power)

The last dyno run was 255bhp but I think we can see from the increase in 1/4 mile times we have gained far more than that.

In Portugal and Spain some tuners are claiming 275-280bhp, which is what I believe my car is running. However due to airflow restrictions on dyno (you simply can't recreate real-world amount of airflow in a closed room) we hit the EGT limiter early. our Lambda also shows we are physically out of air (due to head restrictions) at our current power.

So we are putting on a race tune and fitting dummy EGT sensor for testing purposes.
