OP also appears to be one of those who confuses trackdays with racing / competition... sees who he can 'beat' and then scuttles home to upload the evidence and make self congratulatory comments on the Internet.
If you watched the videos you would see I'm not the one with racing behaviour!

I'm simply proud because I have not been able to do trackdays in years and in a relatively short time I have managed to get my driving to a reasonable standard with no instruction/help or mummy and daddy's money.

Not because I'm treating it like a race. I'm sure you can understand that.

I think you might have turned it into a ''touchy subject' all on your own.

Can't you just be happy that the Polo GTi is a fantastic car and given how rare they are bask in your own self glory that no one else realises?

Honestly I dont think anyone cares that you can get your car to 60 1/2 a second quicker than VW can or that it's just as good as its competition.

FYI the Octavia VRS is much better and it's got a proper boot and it costs significantly less, I know because I bought one smile
What the car that's 8 grand more expensive than the Polo and more competition for the Golf? lol

Yep 300 Circuit! Just timed a 2:29 lap in the videos somewhere using rough marker points and I'd like to get that down to 2:20ish (around the same sort of area as my mates 435bhp ep3)

Yeah the Gti (if PP) is probably a better starting point but then you could argue an R is and so on and so on.

If I'm doing more track days (in my own car) then I think the biggest shout is wheels and tyres like you say and I think an LSD (if they even do them yet) would work wonders!

Nice Evora! That was my car of choice in forza for years! wink Tried (and failed) to stay with a red one! Though traffic helped him out lol

Oh okay. All the current "super hatches" have LSD's as well as some of the superminis (208 30th, corsa vxr PP) so assumed they are sort of a requirement. I do struggle in some 2nd gear corners to get the power down (mainly in the wet to be honest)

Standard power at the minute which is 189 bhp (book figures) but they seem to dyno at 200-215bhp

Torque is book figure of 236/lb/ft which seems to be about spot on on the dyno.

I'm thinking of Pilot Sport Cup 2 in 215/45/17

(Standard is potenza s001 in 215/40/17)

You can see in all the videos I experimented with 2nd and 3rd gear. Second seemed to work best unless it was wet. It's geared quite long which is why I can get caught out by slower cars with shorter gearing but keep up with some of the faster cars if I'm in the right gear (it's a weird one)

Plenty of R soles on here who like to nit pick, personally i like cars, I also like to read about them and as such this is something different than the masses.

One point though - Regarding Nicole's finest Clio 172 , i suppose its aided by its ridiculously low purchase price . Have seen ropey ones for under £900 these days. Hence the popularity.

Lets all get along.

I sold my decent one for £700!

I'm glad I moved up here. Where I used to live it was Brands and that's just boring! It took an hour and a half to get there too vs 30mins

Shame the straights aren't just a little bit shorter wink

If it's too long in the leg, don't put taller tyres on it as you are proposing as you'll make it worse.
They only do a 45 profile in the Cup 2's. Think they do a 40 in supersports or PS3

My mate keeps telling me to get Federal semi slicks.

The Clio 200 cup and Megane won all their group tests but they didn't actually sell too many of them. So it's purely based on the public and Ford has a good image in the UK.

Car magazine had this to say about the Ibiza Cupra (identical mechanically to the Polo Gti)

"Fiesta ST for outright thrills, this for everything else"

I've just looked into the Javelin Sprint series and am thinking of getting a standard saxo/clio etc to compete with in production class next year. Anyone here know anyone that's clued up with it?

Just chatting to an R32 GTR owner that was running around 400 bhp with ohlins suspension cup 2 tyres etc that I managed to keep behind me for a while on youtube.

Feels good knowing I had half the HP and standard everything lol

Yeah I just told him lol

I wasn't faster than him but I kept him and the Leon Cupra behind me for quite some time as soon as I saw them coming in the rear view while I was supposed to be on a cool down lap but wanted to see how fast the revo badged Cupra was (bd almost had me turn in on him as he followed a Caterham that I let through a corner)

So they caught up with you in clean air (faster than you then) and you decided to 'keep them behind you for quite some time'- and you're surprised they got impatient and forced the issue? Sounds like poor trackday etiquette at best.
Unfortunately I don't have the rear cam footage as proof. You'll just have to watch the video as. But I'm near the esses and I can see them coming down the straight so I postpone my cool down lap and see how fast they are. You can clearly hear me saying down the Senna straight that the Cupra isn't catching me.

Later on a Caterham wants to pass so I take a wide line so I can swing back tight and not lose too much momentum and let him. Then the Cupra takes this as an opportunity to get through too.

So no not bad etiquette at all. If anything the etiquette was bad from the faster cars there not the slower ones like mine. So many examples of me lifting and indicating from all my videos so sir, you are wrong!

The last few mins of this video is what you want

I skipped to the end of your 'cars I've owned' video as it's so slow but I love the bit where you tell people to watch the advertisements. Classic.

You seem alright on video it's like it's a different person typing. I.e. A child!
Someone may have touched upon it wink

I am alright in real life! I just have child's hands!
