My 'new to me' 2011 F01 730D SE Luxury

20" Style 253 alloys off; 18" Style 234 alloys & winter tyres on, stud conversion fitted (going to run 12mm spacers, which I'll fit next week)
All brake calipers and brake disc hats wire brushed and cleaned with brake cleaner; looks much better behind the alloys now, will get them painted in the very near future
Washed and towel dried and now its lashing it down It needed it though as it was filthy after the bodyshop visit!

TBH the 18s I fitted to my previous E65 didn't look lost either; probably the chunky tyres
Yup; front and back end look spot on now Will take it back come Spring to get the lacquer issues sorted on the passenger door and I may get the bonnet resprayed too (stone chips etc)

I'm sure the ride is better on 18s. I don't think they look any more lost than the 20s, but that might be due to the wheel/arch gap (room for improvement )

TBH I knew it was going to lash it down, but had to get it clean as it was full of polishing dust (inside & out) and greasy handprints where trim had been put back on etc... Plus swapping the wheels over and wire wheeling the calipers/brake hats etc; rusty dust got everywhere!
The rides superb on the 18s and I like how they look; so if I can't find OEM 19s I'm happy with, I'll find another set of Style 234s I think and get decent summer tyres on them

All got pulled out and thoroughly hoovered!
It's absolutely filthy again due to the rain and driving around in it; bloody dark cars

When I picked my 130 up on a hot day this summer I turned the A/C up and loads of white dust blew everywhere. Delightful.
I forgot to do the boot; threw my gym bag in there & I thought I'd spilled my chalk, nope, bodyshop dust
Another day, another few £hundred spent...
Both front thrust arms had failed; causing clunking when on rough surfaces, more so at lower speeds... NS one wasn't too bad; OS one was loose as it could be and they're less than 6months old too. Undoing someone else's poor / cheap work as per the norm
Both arms replaced with Moog arms!

Yup; both arms shot, crazy seeing as they were fitted less than 1k miles ago and they're less than 5months old (just found the invoice from the previous owner). Typical garage using cheap parts!

I'd have loved a 740D but prices were too strong, more so for the mileage of a lot of them & none had the spec I wanted unfortunately...I was watching a few F11 535Ds too but they all sold before I had chance to do anything about it...

You want loctite, a decent 5mm hex key socket (I use Teng professional) and you tourque them down to 25/30 lbs/ft

I think that applies to all dark (near black) cars............But its coming up to that time of year when I only do contactless washes (so pre rinse; rinse off, snow foam, let that dwell, rinse that off, was the alloys fully and then towel dry the glass and that's it).

I've swapped the cabin filters over today after 20mins of 'footwell gymnastics' Easy enough to remove a few trim pieces after undoing various T20 bolts; but faffy due to their location and the size of me/my hands...
Old filters removed (original BMW ones dated Nov 2011) and new Mahle filters fitted
I've also cleansed the air-con system with Autoglyms 'air con cleaner'; so that should freshen it up nicely

That's why I gave the cavity a clean out with APC etc; should have seen the colour of the cloth I wiped it out with... Bleurgh

So god knows what bacteria and other crap was lurking in the filters & their cavity...
It smells so much better now; the air-con cleaner has done a great job too
