I do like the motorsport look. I really like the look of the old racecars, which were sort of modified for purely performance. They just have something about them which is rather coolas nothing is perfectly done. Also things like the prototype cars which have certain robust/ no nonsense qualities to them as illustrated by the bright red car below.

The reason for all this is that it could hopefully take the styling enough away from it being a total replica and more individual.

"Did you see that? I think that's the point of no return dear."
Tonight we cut holes. Big holes. Ignore the rough edges for now, it will all be boxed in and looking factory fresh by the time i'm finished (see my other builds for the finish i like).
Now this hole is bigger than the finished article will be so i'll be able to have a useable boot. You don't get that on a 355
Ales....oop!
Now the eagle eyed among you will notice that the fuel filler pipe is going to cause a slight issue. I should be able to relocate that further down the firewall to avoid the left head bank.
Everything else looks like it will fit.
The subframe is going to require a notch taken out to let the gearbox sit a little lower. This will be strengthened up to make sure it still supports it all. That should allow the driveshafts to miss the subframe. It'll be tight but by jove i think it might just go!

That's a great start!
I don't have the balls to start cutting steel... yet.
I'm curious about the wheel arches on your car, specifically at the rear. Have they been cut to allow the wheels to sit so much higher? I'm not a fan of the 355 replicas myself, but I am a fan of the wider lower stance they seem to possess (well the good ones anyway), even compared to the TRD widebody cars. I've a loose plan to design my own widebody at some point & I'd love to get the kind of arch height these guys have. As a man who's seen plenty of MR2s in the past I was hoping you'd easily be able to tell if/where it's been cut and how they manage to get the wheel up so high relative to the body without having terrible ground clearance or suspension travel.

Unsure on how the kit was fitted tbh, you'd need to check out the Exact 355 replica build threads, sure there will be some online.
Note the side on pic is photoshopped to sit at the right height because without an engine in it looks like a tractor. I'll be fitting it with some decent coilovers anyways but it is possible to get them sitting at the right height and have the suspension still work. All down to the quality and setup of the suspension though.

Something along the lines of this :
If you make it look like this, with the engine you suggested, that will be one hell of a car. Awesome project, love it, good luck
Although I agree about the thick spoked wheels looking better.
