finally fitted the Brembo F50 with brand new CSL discs.

Now need to fit the fire extinguisher and the cut off switch and will be done with the mods for the moment.

Well if I find some more time I might get a CSL boot, plastic windows and a lightweight battery biggrin

some recent updates

one of the front control arm bushings failed and after seeing the eyewatering oem price, decided to go for the serious stuff - ordered the SLRspeed steering angle kit. Adjustable ackerman and wider track plus much quicker steering and 50 deg angle at the moment (need to change to narrower wheels or remove the ARB and will be getting 65+) I cannot believe I have been waiting so long to do this mod. It's night and day, makes things so much easier smile

the kit itself

got angle?

it really makes things a lot easier

and the latest update smile picked up a new daily driver which will be converted back to stock and the supercharger is going on the drifter (just need to find the time to do it)

I know very little about this, but that looked like some impressive car control.

Mine is a 2001 car which still has the old DSC/Traction ecu (up to June 2002). If you press and hold the DSC button for more than 15 sec it switches off the ABS and the DSC completely (it deactivates the wheel speed sensors) and you can pull the hydro all day long without going into limp mode. The only way to turn it back on is to turn off/turn on the ignition.

No problems with the dash lights as well - once you remove the SRS Aribag module the ecu stops checking the airbags and the seatbelts so no dash light comes on. (hence thenMOT is still ok)

I bought a set of used knuckels off ebay, 135 GBP delivered and I have a guy who will drill them, this way you move the mounting point of tie rod about 1 inch. You don't mess up the ackerman and still get decent angle (on top of the steering rack spacers). Then you need tie rods from e92 as they are longer and you are sorted. I was worried that the knuckle is not thick enough to be drilled (at least by looking at pictures) but I have them now and there is plenty of metal so it will be still strong.

Some pics from saturday

the camera is there but no battery grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hi m8

Mine is a Feb 2002, so the old DSC system, never knew that a 15s press de-activated ABS, awesome to know, so do you literally just press and hold it for 15s until the light shows or just count to 15 and then let go?

Whats the hydro?

Lastly my SRS airbag light still shows, what is this SRS module located? I removed the small computer/ECU near the gear shifter thinking that was it, but light still shows, is there another?

Yup, you press and hold it for about 15s, the warning light (triangle with caution sign) comes and stays on after that, no matter if you press the button again. You have to switch off the engine to put it back to normal.

the hydro is OBP (Optimum Balance Products) but to be honest not that happy with the quality. When I get a bit more time will get on the case and have one CNCed from alloy. It's a dual cylinder one which is pretty good if you want to keep the DSC and the ABS. If you are ready to ditch them and loose some weight you can use a single cylinder one.

Hmm the only SRS module is the one near the gear shifter. I removed all the airbags, seatbelts, cables etc and don't have any light on the dash (if you run the error codes tho you get a very long list wink Have you removed the sensors/small modules for the front seats which are under the front carpets? If they are still there they might be giving an error signal to the main ECU.

Next step for me would be swapping the rear window and the rear quarter windows for lexan. You don't loose any comfort and you are looking at 10-12 kg (lexan is half weight and you remove the rear windows electric motors)

Tried the DSC for 15s and yep it seems to do the trick. So does the completely disable ABS as well or just stability control?

I've unplugged the small modules under the seats just, but air bag light still showing, any others you can think off around the car I might have missed?

disables ABS as well - I can pull the hydro all day long and lock the rear wheels without any ABS interference

it's very bizarre that you have the airbag light on - once the module under the carpet near the gearshifter is gone there shall be no more issues.

Tried clearing codes, no luck as module not present. Re-connected module, cleared codes, airbag light went out for a second and came back.

The only thing I've not done is disconnect the earth that is on one of the airbag modules bolts, did you disconnect that earth or leave it earthed on the car?

I don't have any of the modules, removed all the airbags (the side curtains as well) and also removed all the wiring. The INPA shows tons if codes but no error light on the dash. If you are really bothered about the light, you can remove the bulb in the instrument cluster but there has to be a different solution.

What a great thread, fair play for being original with this - love the colour of the cage!!

Always had a deep love for the M3 and a quick check of the classifieds shows they are great value now.......

Fabricated my own ones. Had mov'it ones for big reds and just changed them and got them made on cnc.

Haven't updated this one in a while...

to sum up, the m3 was a dream to drift with the supercharger. I also put 50mm spacers on each side in the back to fix the geometry issue after installing the SLRspeed steering kit and rose jointed the whole rear suspension. I did quite a few track days and was amazed by the amount of grip she had. I also did many drift days and was having a blast. However power is corrupting and at some point the 460hp she was making just didn't seem enough. The stock rods are good for 520ish and start bending like pasta once you up the boost and I have always been looking at reliability over power.
So when I moved for the winter to the US I started collecting the parts for a fully forged engine.
Everything has been already sent to the UK and my engine builder shall start working on it in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully she will be ready by the time I am back mid June.

The specs
9.0:1 Mahle Forged pistons
Molner Forged Rods
850cc injectors
400lph Walbro in tank fuel pump
Cometic MLS gasket
Ported heads
ARP hardware
all new gaskets, timing chain, oil and water pump etc
18 psi pulley
Evolve custom remap

I am hoping for about 600-620 hp at the wheels given what similar setups in the US are running.

Next step will be CF doors, CF boot and full lexan windows kit.

My favourite pic of the last season

Who said there is no such thing as a practical track car? (all the stickers have been removed as we had to respray the rear arches after we rolled and pulled them out 3cm a side to accommodate the spacers so now she looks nice and clean)

Excellent! The roll cage colour was a bold strategy, but it has paid off.
