Reminds me of the PHer with the rusty old blue Astra van with the mega Z20LET turbo engine, and the guy with the ropey old Focus estate with the maniac ST engine transplanted.

Missed this thread first time around.

It’s brilliant!

And in absolutely the right colour of ‘grandparent blue’ - these are always driven by grandparents when I see them. A National Trust sticker or similar will help complete the look

With air bags removed and mechanisms for sliding doors how does it pass an MOT ?

Also are you going to try and make dash look more standard so people can’t tell when looking in ?
The airbag question was ignored earlier in the thread.

I believe as long as an airbag warning light is not displayed it’s up to the testers discretion...this covers road legal track/rally cars that have been stripped.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the great feedback!

To address some of the questions people have asked... the airbag system is fully removed including all electronics, looms, and any references to them. We did this due to running harnesses meaning removal of the pretensioners and also running an aftermarket steering wheel with no space for an airbag. With regards to the MOT it’s my understanding that so long as the entire system is fully removed, there’s nothing there to be tested.

With regards to the rear door slider mechanisms being removed, we’ve registered the car with the DVLA as being a 2 seater, therefore to my knowledge access to the rear is no longer a requirement. The doors can still be opened from the inside if required but this is quite a process as they’re secured firmly in place.

The dashboard modifications were only ever temporary due to needing to lower the dials and steering wheel. We will be tidying this up in due course. But at the end of the day this project is just a bit of fun. My more serious project is a full restoration of a Lancia Beta Spyder where every nut, bolt / component has been finished by either plating , powder coating etc. I’ll create a build thread on this some time as it’s been 7 years so far and still so much to do!

We plan on taking the Berlingo to Santa Pod and Castle Combe again soon and hope to get some videos there.
