Plug and play to have it working but there are a few coding changes to do with FORScan but the program is free and easy to use. Just have to buy an interface from Amazon/eBay to about a tenner.

Took about an hour.
Once the warranty is up, that looks worthwhile!

Loving the whole project.

It’s a Jackson racing kit for a Ford Focus. Blower is a Eaton M45

Bought it used from the states via eBay. Blower needs a rebuild. Had a new pulley reverse engineered by a local company.

Sorry yes going on a blacktop. 1.8 currently at 180bhp. Hoping for about 220ish if I ever get time to do it.

Mustang has a clutch type lsd.
Westfield has a Quaife LSD but can’t remember which as I didn’t build it.

Another small update, need to have the thread title updated too as the car no longer has 711bhp.

I had been struggling with drive ability issues for a while and was getting now where so decided to use a Tuner from the states for a new custom MAP.
Palm Beach Dyno were chosen and after some data logging for them i got my final tune for the current spec.

Today the car went back on a hub dyno at AET Motorsport (AET turbos) and ran a number of pulls while i logged them.

The results were very good.

632 rwhp and 577 rwt so pretty much 730bhp now.

Plan is now to fit billet oil pump gears and sprocket, Edelbrock cold air induction kit and a smaller pulley for an extra 3psi.
The aim is 650+ rwhp so around 760 bhp

Messed up my calculations,

The car is actually 743bhp now

632/.85=743bhp

How do you know the powertrain losses are 15% ? Isn't that just an assumption?

It’s a rough estimate going on stock cars being dyno’d and producing whp figures that are about 15% lower than the stock BHP figures.

We had hub power measured to qualify for racing in MSVR Team and Trackday Trophy. Powertrain losses assumed were 12%. 632rwhp/0.88 = 718bhp

Still hell of a lot of power thumbup

Different for everyone. With out pulling the lump and putting in on an engine dyno the BHP is just an estimated guess.

When reading up I have seen between 11 and 20% depending on the transmissions and the dyno it was tested on. Also reading that well known tuners in the US seem go 15% I will stick with that.

Bit more work done to the car over the last few weeks.

Knowing i was going to up the power more i decided to fit billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket.

This means stripping of the front timing cover, removing the timing chains to acces the oil pump. The whole job took about 7.5 hours.

oil pump exposed

to get the oil pump off the pick up pipe has to be unbolted. if you drop the bolts they go into the sump so the best way was to loosen it off and wrap a bit of wire between the bolt and washer as the washer cant come off the bolt. made removal and refitting much easier.

Getting the timing marks all lines up on the new crank sprocket.

I went with Boundary gears

old standard ford gears

Once that was all done a new tune was emailed over from Palm beach and the rest of the upgrades were fitted.

GT350 throttle body taking the opening from 80 to 87mm.

Side by side

GT350 fitted

Edelbrock cold air intake fitted to replace the restrictive standard air box

And the smaller 2.75" pulley to give the car an extra 3psi.

I wanted to keep an eye on the boost and oil pressure so two gauges were bought and fitted into the dash vents via 3D printed gauge holders.

Afew cosmetic upgrades were also carried out.

After fitting the active 2018+ exhaust i needed a valance to make it look more factory. Decided on the Roush.

One of the let downs for me with hte car was the steering wheel. Cheap fake leather felt awful to hold and too thin.
A little browse on US ebay got me a GT350 wheel with only 500 miles use.

About to swap all switches over

Done

Back on the car

Such an improvement. Looks better, feels better.

The car is booked back on the same dyno tomorrow for a power run. Hoping for 680whp so about 800bhp.

Fingers crossed.

It’s a handful in the dry.

1st and second are useless for wide open throttle. No traction at all. 3rd on is ok in dry with warm tyres.

Normal driving is perfectly fine though.

I love how people do these threads and say oh it’s simple just do this. It’s a bit like poppopbangbangs thread on his 4L 911/996, with long range fuel tanks and umpteen upgrades. (Mind you he does engineer old F1 cars for a living).

Congratulation OP. Really love the car and the colour. Amazing skills. It’s a definite possibility for my next car. Someone local to me owns this one. I love the sound of it alone.

Sorry not sure how to rotate the image for the forum. It’s okay before I post it. Just turns up 90 degrees rotated. You will have to rotate your heads :-)
