We could maybe organise a decent drive about fife and the Lothians if you fancy? Or further up north.
That sounds like a great idea. I'm just north of Dundee, so fairly central for any run out really. Just ping me a PM and we can try and to organise something. smile

Nice car!

Look after your seats though!
Small up-date. Capital seating tailored car seat cover arrived today. Will get it fitted once I've removed the seat and did a wee clean/ tinker. Want to strengthen the seat foam to stop it prematurely wearing. Apparently the foam for the base is £450. LOL.

Again thanks for all the great comments.
Congrats on getting a second bite at the Clubsport S cherry wink

Definitely one of the best colours for the Golf.

I've never heard of someone strengthening the seat foam, how do you go about it?
Be great solution if it works,I'm sure people who own DC2 Integras and EK9 Civic Type-R's would be interested to save the brilliant Recaros in those cars.

Gorgeous motor. Best generation of the Golf for years and years.
My neighbour has a White 2 door Gti of the same vintage and I honestly think it's one of the best proportioned, best looking cars you can buy.
There isn't a single aspect I look at and think 'FFS, why did they do that?'. And I think I do that on pretty much every car I see.

I really like the Clubsport S.

If circumstances weren't what they are (more than 2 of us), it would be a great car to own. Even as just a weekend toy.

Absolutely love that. The Clubsport S is definitely the best looking of all the MK7 Golfs. I bet it's an absolute riot to drive. When my R went back, I looked at getting a Clubsport with the S seats, but there just weren't the deals on them that were on the R, so I couldn't justify it sadly.

Lovely car. If I go back to a Golf at any point, I think it would be a lightly tweaked manual, 3dr GTI. I think it would be a much more fun steer than the R was.

Great car + seats look amazing so no surprise that they are popular with undesirables!

Lovely, lovely car. I'm looking in a few months to splash out big on a new car and not really a fan of fwd but this appeals. Couldn't have a white one though and would be putting a minimum 15k a year on it. How have you found it so far. Too hard for a daily?

Great looking car, looks really cool.

But, why not just sit on the seat? You are only giving the next owner a nicer car. If you only are going to use it sparingly, just sit on them!

Enjoy it!!

As a daily perspective the suspension is just not an issue, even in Edinburgh. When in soft dampers I think the ride is superb. Much more compliant than my M140 and RS 275 Cup S with Ohlins (Even at the softest setting.) It would be a shame to use it as a commuter car. So far its just a typical gold GTi. Solid, well made and well whiteout copying. "Does exactly what it says on the tin". However it just feels proper special. Think I'm now on my fifth comment from a passer by on how good it looks.

So super small up-date. This arrived from Europe today. Euro Octavia VRS foot rest. Matches the rest of the pedals well I think.

New Bolsters for the Honda Recaro's are easy to get and not all that expensive

Even to the untrained car spotters eye there is something special and different about the Clubsport S.

Yours being red just lifts it a little bit more.
I think red was one of the rarest colours as well.

I've only seen one Clubsport Edition 40 on the roads here and it looked well, never an S.
Definitely one to hold onto for a long time.

Loverly motor, enjoy it. By driving, just like a GT3RS is about driving it wink (the thought of all those GT cars sitting in storage in the UK...)
Baby seat goes in the front, too...

if you ever need more space, don't forget the Cupra ST. With a baby coming unlike you I wanted an estate for the coming years. Luckily the Cupra ST manual is only about 100kg more, modded mine for it to drive more in a Clubsport S manner so to speak. Now a stellar combination of practicality and relative lightweight performance.

As for modding, downpipe did wonders for turbo response but please get a catted one, more £ yes, but in 2019 cars shouldn't stink when there is enough cancer already. 034 trailing arms and an alignment with some toe really tied that rear down. Superpro front LCA's are also great.
If you remap (new clutch necessary longer term), don't spoil it with a boosty high torque map as I see so many of. You want to meter this car out of bends, not struggle with traction as a whack of torque comes barfing in... My idea of a fun car at least.

Slightly confused.......did wifey have the 500 when you had the 140? If so then surely she could drive that as she does now? Also how is a 1 series noticeably bigger than a Golf?

Anyway nice car but don't get me started on 2 seater HHs..........

Good to see the Clubsport S has a manual box.

As highly competent as my Mk 7.5 GTI is, DSG turns driving into a snoozefest.

So as above my old DC2 i bought and replaced the seat bolster from Capital seating. I contacted them last week and asked for seat advice regarding the VW. I was told that VW own all the right to the design and their will be no spares produced by capital seating. They produce Honda items because they no longer own the patent.
