The goat is now insured so can drive to the garage / MOT station soon smile

Orbital sander purchased, start sanding off all the old paint next week. Going to tackle panel by panel - remove, strip and prime!

However, today's job, remove the left fuel tank....

Like a sieve!

These are the only tools - along with a socket set - we've needed to date!

All about the delegation wink

Job done. Full of rust and paper?!

Not sure how much they are new, but you could have a stainless one knocked up quite cheaply to replace that smile

The new one is on order and comes with replacement filters and other bits and pieces, wasn't too pricey. All the parts to date are pretty easy to come by and good value....so far.

I like the spartan nature of this and the low costs. Renovation with the boy is a fantastic idea, nice one.

Made some real progress today but also a mishap :/

Removed one of the doors that had the worst rust, filler and flaky paint and stripped it all back. Now its ready to prime

Just 4 bolts and off it came, loving the simplicity so far!

Ready to prime smile

The top half of the doors is removable and the driver side bent out a little so tried to force it back into shape, managed to crack the door! Upon closer inspection there was a previous weld on the inside so didn't feel as bad - phew.

Folded down the windscreen to get an idea of what it'll be like next summer on the road with the door tops off and cage removed too - can't wait!

Love this project, thanks for sharing. Really unique and interesting. Nice TVR too sir. I'll keep my eyes peeled on the local Buckinghamshire roads.

The front door was ready to go back, got the tools out only to realise i'd inadvertently filled one of the main bolt holes. Bit of a hunt to locate the hole but managed to clear it out and the thread wasn't too clogged - phew!

20 mins later door reassembled and back on.

Next task to tackle 2 of the biggest patches on the Goat, not sure why they were caked in filler. A slight dent for each, chipped / sanded it all off and just surface rust to treat. Ready to smooth out and prime next!

The new roof has arrived from Poland and looks great. Gave my boys the choice of black, light green, dark green or camo - yup camo it is!

Can't wait to put it on but have to hold back. The roof cage seems to be caked in some sticky black paint, left it out in the sun to see if would dry out - thought maybe the previous owner did a dodgy spruce up job - nope didn't dry out, its like anti climb paint and stains all it touches.

So that's going to be a laborious task, lucky the weekend is going to be good. A lot of sanding and priming lies ahead.

Still waiting for the big delivery of goodies from Poland including the new bonnet, once they arrive it'll be some major progress. Going to follow up later this morning.

Busy afternoon, started to strip off the sticky paint on the roof cage - more sanding tomorrow and then some Rustoleum / Hammerite. Going to try both on a small patch to see what gives the best finish.

Even found an old car stereo in the garage this morning - ready to blare out those Ruski beats!

Other dodgy patch all sorted and ready to prime tomorrow.

Back wing now sorted. Sanded, prepped and primed.

Job done for this evening!

Great project and I agree with this, it would suit some period correct signage like this!

I am so done with sanding down the body work, its turned me to gin!

Another full days work today....

Back right 1/4 now prepped and primed.

Finished of filling and sanding a problem path above the right wing...meant I had to take it off along with the door so decided to tackle the wing too whilst it was off.

Its in pretty good shape, just a bad paint job.

This lasted all of 5 mins, admittedly it was so dull :/

Job done, prime tomorrow!

That looks really sound

What is the underside of the wings and underneath like - I see the fuel tank had very little protection but is that the norm for the rest
