With you on the wiring, and I used to install car stereos as a side line, hated pulling a headunit out of a dashboard to find a rats nest of bodged wiring!!!!
Great work with it though!!!
Oh god I've not even looked at the stereo wiring yet. and as it switches on and off while driving im dreading it. Great work with it though!!!

Stereos are always the worst - everyone feels they're unlikely to damage much important wiring in a stereo so anyone with a scotch connector has a go whereas only the seasoned bodger will have a go at most of the other wiring in a car.Slow progress. Checking and double checking my way through everything. Only got the switched live and starter wrong so far. And to be fair that's what the wiring diagram said was correct. Easy enough to switch at the plug end in the car.
The donuts came for the bumper. My lack of Peugeot knowledge caught me out, I needed some special nuts with a big flange on the back to secure the rubber.
So got my creative bodging on and made these up
I had to change the intercooler mount to fit the bumper, I only checked the intercooler space then got abit carried away with the full bar all the way across. I for got to get pictures, but it's abit neater now. Will add some later.
The bumper isn't on properly yet so no pics of it on yet.
I'm still mucking about with the wiring. I still need to fit the AFR gauge and connect that to the ECU. Tach wiring, perm and switched live for the gauge and ECU. Fan wiring, I think I'm just going to run them off the original temp switch in the rad for now. I will probably put them on a relay from the ECU eventually,to Give me more control.
I'm also trying to decide. On the boost control. I'd like to get it on a electronic switch. For the ECU to control, bit I've got a mechanical screw type one. (Not a horrendous cheapy one) and Darren from Spoox racing who's supplied the ECU, said he prefers that set up.
Be nice to have a low and high boost map though.
Just all this st to tidy up !
Although the engine is starting to look tidy.

This was quite a popular conversion back in the day. You could try on 205gtidrivers.com if you get stuck (and if it gets much traffic now) but Darryl problem has most of the answers.
My Dad had a 406Sri with this engine. Was about 150bhp I think. Little low pressure turbo but was nice and smooth with minimal lag - low boost as I don't think they ran intercoolers? Go upto about 200bhp IIRC?
I had a 205 Turbo Technics at the same time. The set up was far simpler than in your car - far less hoses for a start! That had a low/high boost button and mine was running ~180bhp. They could easily run 200bhp with a proper ECU - Emerald, Megasquirt etc but you lost the old school boost characteristics. They are pretty manic on the standard 1.9 'box. I fitted a TD final drive with dragged all the gears out by 10% as I was planning to run quite a bit more power but never got round to that. Quaiffe ATB is a good upgrade to fight the torque steer.

I'm going to be running it on a Omex 600. Which more than capable off running the 4cylnder. Those early turbo technics cars were all quite basic. But they were very effective. I'm aiming for 220bhp which I think will be more than enough.
She also got a citron xantia box which I believe is slightly shorter than the GTi one.
Bit of progress the bumper and grill is still only mocked up. But there light at the end of the tunnel.
Almost like it was planned. (Was definitely a fluke I forgot about the strut brace ! )

I had a friend with a TT running Omex and that made ~220bhp.
TT? as in audi ? don't they make that as standard? I have it on good authority that these XU10j2te's can make a fare bit more power, however my past experience is its more trouble than its worth putting to much power through a little econo box. i want this to be fun and usable on the road and also be pretty reliable. so plan to keep the stress to a minimum. my old mk2 golf with a VR6T was an animal, but it would regularly break. nothing could cope with 400+FTLB
i'm going to run out of injectors anyway i think. probable just under 200 that's an easy fix though if i do. the T25 turbo can push tops 270 on a good day but, i think i will need a lot of supporting mods for that.

~200Bhp in a 205 is plenty to start with!
307 (208Gti 180) calipers and discs are a straight bolt on swap.

Few more bits ticked off, got the front end pretty much all together. I'm missing one bumper strut. Which I'm waiting for. Still not 100% happy with it few bits are abit wonky still but I think it's passable for now .
Another nice little bodge on the throttle cable, love the abit of electrical tape !
With the omex, I want to keep it simple and not use a idle control valve. So plant to use the scatter spark function. However I need to be able to adjust the throttle setting
Probably the most getto thing I've done bit I'm still not sure what I'm doing with the boost control so I'm going to reuse this for now. Yes bleed valves are abit st but this one is pretty well engineered. It will suffice for now. Plus I've only got the Dyno cost left in the budget
I sware these vehicle designers have visions of the future
This is the cubby under the steering wheel. Holds the ECU perfectly. Couple of bits of velcro and we're good to go.
yes I'm one of those fags thaputs there insta on there cars joy of having my own graphics business.
The list is getting thin, I'm slightly annoyed as both the tuner and omex themselves have been to busy to provide a base map. So I can't start the car until they do. Short of topping up the coolant and an oil change its ready to go otherwise.
Note the hard pipe drawing that was ignored
Anyway it's time for a or 2. As I imagine I'll be doing way to much DIY the weekend as I've run out of parts.

Still waiting on a map, turns out that's probably a good thing. Will get to that.
Here's the revised intercooler mount.
I've also gone for the fogs, saves buying something else. I had to fab mounts for them so I must have some kind of repo bumper.
No to the bit I've been dreading.
Think I owe the Mrs a new can opener, little bit beyond its design criteria!
Here goes,
I don't know when it was last changed but it looks recent filter. Dosnt seem to be magnetic. So I'm hoping it's from the turbo or left overs.
I'm going to pull the sump tomorrow and clean it out. And depending on the state of things, and Make a plan.
The most likely course action is clean it out. Rag the st out of it for 500-1000 miles and replace the oil and inspect the filter. Then I either throw it in the bin, rebuild it or do something nuts. Tesla motors?

Maybe just maybe it's not all bad, Actually cut the media open after losing my st last night.
There is small steel fillings and the larger flakes of Ali. It is supposed to be rebuilt. And the previous owner ran it in for 800miles. I'm hoping it just wasn't cleaned out properly whilst not ideal. It might be ok if the oil filter has done its job.
I mean if we looked inside my liver I dread to think what looks like.
Going to drop the sump tonight it looks fairly simple to do. On the plus side there is a little leak from the sump gasket so I can fix that to

Alright then, I'm feeling abit better. It's got crud in the pan but it's really fine. There were a few bigger bits. Bit not what I was expecting. There's a sluddgy mix of fine magnetic metal at the bottom it's silvery so I think it's running in stuff. Which is good as it's keeping all the crap in the pan.
Bearly anything, from swilling a magnet in the dropped oil. Found a few bits mostly sealant. Not bad just a few bits.
It's my bedtime, (parents will know) so will do some more digging later.
This is from the pan. Looks horrific on the magnet
but it's fine paste not gritty at all an looks to be suspended in break in jizz.
one of the best £20 I've spent. This cheap Chinese rachet is wicked. I'm normally a by decent by it once kinda guy. Most my tools are teng. And all my power tools are DeWalt but they don't make one of these. So thought I'll just get a cheapy .
Made getting the 30 odd bolts out a doddle.
Right will report back later.
