Mine has an incredibly load, skweaky fan too. Only does it on startup generally.

There is cheaper fix which I use With mine.

Step 1: open the bonnet

Step 2: locate fan

Step 3: punch fan

Repeat as required.

rofl

Ahhh the old TVR school of engineering eh, shall try that later!

to be honest mine seems to be when I set off, I'd rather replace the sodding thing hehe

Yeah the wheel is a bit rank and since I found an obstruction behind the drivers seat, I now have full leg clearance and an extra inch or two in seat adjustment, it means I dont really need the retarded wheel biggrin

First things first though, make sure the oil leak is sorted ,change coolant and flush system, replace fan and coilover time biggrin

Although stupid, it does work!

I stripped my fan down, WD40'd and replaced, and it made sod all difference. I suspect it's the fan casing that's causing it, but I can't figure out how. If you fix without replacing please let me in on the secret, I'm loated to spend £50 odd quid on a crappy plastic fan hat otherwise works perfectly!

I'm quite happy to replace things if they're shafted like, I've decided the 5 is a long term project so any work I will do will be beneficial smile

Well it's been a funny old week

We've managed to plug the oil leaks and disconneted the noisey fan for now, however a new problem has developed in the way of the oil that was heading south is now finding its way north.

Looks like the valve seals/piston rings are shot so that's the next batch of work.

I'm currently looking at sorting the suspension out too, but doubtful if I can afford coilovers just yet so I've just bought some standard springs from a guy on nutz along with 4 brake discs. Now I need to source pads and shocks and jobs a goodun for now

Well the smoking has been diagnosed as valve stem oil seals, but it's not been doing it while it's been warm so that's taking a back seat for the moment

I've recently taken delivery of a lot of stuff (much to the dismay of the couriers rofl) from some guys off of MX5nutz and our very own masser_spyder on here biggrin

The parts so far:

Still need to find the time to get underneath and sort the coolant thing our and need to replace that squirrel mincing fan as it sounds terrible!

I'm picking up some standard daisies that have been refurbed and shod in some Pirelli ditchfinders priced at a rather good £50 biggrin

Major work commences shortly wink

Anywho:

Project fking Thing update:

After being off the road for some 3 weeks due to suspension problems and some thick lump breaking the balljoint (paperbag) the Eunos is back on the road and now sitting on some Koni units biggrin

Also now shod in the finest ditchfinders (P6000s) which grip a lot better than I thought

List of things left to do for the immediate future are:

Change discs and pads - this weekend
Change 5 blade rad fan for one that doesn't sound like a Llama being raped and murdered
Rad flush
Coolant change
Thermostat change - all coming soon

oh and collect new bootlid and soon hoping to be sporting a new hood

The front end has been tidied up with the removal of the mock lotus badge, the JDM projecter lamps and the big baby teeth towing eyes (4 of the suckers on this thing)

Glad to have her back biggrin

Quick photo update:

Recently removed the projector lights, the babyteeth, fitted slightly darker wheels bought from another nutzer, fitted the konis and a replacement hood

Now I need to sort the bootlid out and hopefully get the bonnet and bumper rectified before I can proceed, but that's a little bit away yet smile

Nothing artistic and please forgive the top of the border, the new Faceache uploader evidently doesn't like the pics frown

My goodness that's a bit low!

Don't they have speedbumps round your way?

Or do you just make big detours to avoid them?

Or just put up with the crashing noises as you go over them?

There are loads of speed bumps around me, but the only time I've every touched was when i had my father in the passenger seat and even then it was just the exhaust giving it a wee kiss

It's actually quite usable smile
