Just worked out the Focus has cost £2822.35 in servicing MOTs and running repairs in 27 months giving an average of £104.53 a month, not bad at all for a 13 year old car with over 206k on the clock

Certainly not bargainous but I suppose it depends on the £/mile in each case.
Works out to about 8.5p a mile which I don't think is bad considering the age and mileage of the car, certainly a lot less than the depreciation on a new one.

Definitely - and you seem to be enjoying ownership
Absolutely. It's not definite but there's a possibility of a road trip to Belgium towards the end of the year, I'm an admin for a group that remembers WW1 soldiers and there's a few of us that might be going out there to go round some of the cemeteries and trenches.

Look at it this way, a reliable workhorse for £25 a week.

Bargain in my eyes!

Will always be folk who luck out running a old car for years feeding it some oil they found in a shed and then getting rid when it needs some work.

Can see the appeal of that but I quite like to keep a car up to scratch, even if it is a shed.

I bet that focus will do many more miles and bring that figure down anyway if you decided to keep plugging along with it.
I agree, I like my cars up to scratch too. I intend to keep the Focus running for as long as I can, it's proved to be so dependable and I like the car.

Another little job done after work today, I changed the battery in the key for the remote locking as the old one was on the way out and gave the lock a good squirt of wd40.

Just been touching in some of the worst of the stonechips round the front of the Focus, I've never been good at using touch in paint really neatly but looks a bit better than it did.

Use a cocktail stick or safety pin for it, much easier and better finish than the brush they provide
Thanks I had never thought of that before, worth remembering for future use

Thank you. 1000 miles in about 5 1/2 weeks isn't many for me but there's been no long trips since October. Hopefully I'll get up to Northumberland at Easter, will be the first time I've seen Mum for over a year

Looks like the Focus might need some new front springs, it's sitting slightly lower on the o/s/f than the near side and the spring seems to be flaking.

Thanks Peanut Gallery. I had a couple of springs go in my old Fiesta over the 12 years I had it, fortunately both times while it was parked.

I'm reckoning on about £80-100 per side based on enquiries I have made.
