500bhp lotus S1 Exige build...
Discussion
After a visit to caffeine and machine Darren is reinvigorated to get this project finished! Seeing cars in finished states brought home how we need to get this finished, not getting any younger! As soon as the wing brackets are done the bodywork can be final fitted and it can go off to get a full motec install, will definitely be running for next years TD season.
Managed to get another weekend working on the Exige, needs to be at a point to go for the electronics install and rewire by the end of december!
After discussion with the guy doing the Motec install it's been decided to fit a brake bias bar and individual reservoirs with sensors so we can log frant and rear brake pressures, so out came the pedal box, i hadn't planned on this so it feels like a step backwards!
We are lucky enough to have access to someone with a 3D scanner very close by so he was tasked with scanning the side pods and rads so Darren can make up some bespoke intakes to the inside of the clam for maximum airflow. He also scanned the front wings as Darren has always wanted to change to slots in the top to bespoke carbon setup mounted underneath.
The biggest job achieved over the weekend, Darren managed to free up some machine time to make the billet CC, it's just tacked up at the moment so he can get the pipework made up for the Bosch motorsport DBW throttle body.
And finally he's designed a mount for the 15 button keypad for the Motec, this will also house the buttons for the lifeline system and the electrical cutout, will be mounted off the roll cage between the driver and passenger, makes it much easier to reach when harnessed in, was impossible to reach for the driver before as they were mounted on the dash in front of the passenger.
Still a mountain to climb yet but as long as darren can get stuff mounted and in position then it will be wired by the end of Feb, hopefully then all that is left is assembly of parts.
