A pair of second hand headlight covers are now on their way sourced via a certain online auction site. About £20 including delivery isn't bad.

Hopefully on Tuesday I'll be having a ride to Longbridge with the intention of getting some photos before the MG plant closes, it will probably be the last long trip the Focus does this year.

During todays run down to Longbridge I noticed a wobble in the steering when braking at motorway speeds. I suspect the front brakes but is there anything else it could be?

Mine used to really notice the road surface, so try on a different section of road.

A few heavy brake sessions used to clean all the rust off my disks, My rear drums were permanently oval, a gentle pull of the handbrake while brake got the whole car shaking, but the steering stayed straight.

A previous car had seriously oval tyres, and the steering wobble used to be continuous, not only when braking.

How's the longer distance job going?

I'm going to be doing a trial on National Express at some point, apparently they got fed up of people applying to go on it then applying to come off a few weeks later.

Wheel shake under breaking could be warped discs, wheel out of balance, buckled wheel or a tyre out of shape, start with the cheapest, get the wheels rebalanced, and ask them to visually check that there isn't a buckle!!!

Running fine thanks. I went from Hull down to Ashford in Kent via a Wrest Park and Down House to get some photos, especially of the WW1 tank that is at Ashford.

Booked into my friendly garage on the 13th to get the brakes looked at, hopefully it will cure the wobble under braking. They reckon something is sticking or the discs have warped.

Shouldn't be too expensive, discs are cheap enough and easy to replace!!
