Re electrics, recommend looking in to putting some relays into the headlight circuits. Pretty sure you will find you have full current going through the column switch which is NLA. If so relays will both improve the lights and protect the switch.

Re handling, a session on some Hunter alignment gear usually pays dividends as well. You need shims to make any adjustments...Superformance or Hill Engineering

Jeeper that wheel movement is horrific! Will no doubt be much better after fixing that!

With that much to mount movement I’m surprised it didn’t feel really bad through the steering. No knocking noise?
Should make a world of difference when fixed.

I think others have said it but I’m sure there must be a company (K&N?) who will supply a pancake filter set up that suits?

It's really trying your patience now. I'm optimistic that you will get there eventually. Although it does make good content for the channel, can't be all that much fun with those disappointments. The look on your face was something else and I really felt for you then.

Watching "16. A moment of carelessness".

I know something similar to the sound you heard. Rust and a Civic and an emergency new tyre due to a blowout and a jack and...crunch (car sinks the the ground)

Oh man its a real rollercoaster. If this was one of those crappy rebuild shows we'd be accusing the makers of inventing false jeopardy

Very sorry to see the jack (Jack?) damage. I've dropped a car off a jack before, and had to replace a disc (well, both as you only ever replace them in pairs) as a consequence.

I don't think you will get the sound from that exhaust that you're after. The 308 engine just isn't a high enough compression engine to spit and doesn't rev high enough to properly howl.

You were right to remove the spot lights. They do look very after-market, and even though 308s have had them for decades, they serve little purpose. The front looks tidier without them.

Lastly, I'm undecided about the stickers. Maybe they're just a little too big? I agree that Ferraris generally look better with them on the flanks but they kind of look a little jarring there.

Most of the exhaust sound quality is set by the headers all going into one before the silencer.

cry

So sorry to see what happened with the jack. I felt so sick for you watching that. I hope it's not too problematic to put right.

It's fixable at least. Just time and money! Hopefully they can paint to the lower trim line and you won't know it's ever been done.

Gutted for you. You looked like you were about to cry frown I've had that feeling watching a bike slooowly rolling forward off the sidestand and onto the ground.

Maybe smaller stickers on the side would look better? The big ones make me want to sick my face off.

Fantastic thread Jack, just been catching up with it and watching the video clips - wonderful stuff!

I can remember 308s being sold new from this small dealer in Brandon, halfway between Rugby and Coventry, the signage is still in place but the workshop next door is now an MOT station, if you're ever up this way it might be worth a photo op....!

How good would that 308 look in front of that garage. It would be a great picture.

Just got myself updated - ouch!

I am flat that is just cosmetic and I think the plan to replace the part is correct. I recall some other rust issues so look at some time in the body shop as well spent to get done what is needed and get a report done von the whole car.

The front looks much better without the spots. The stickers look way to big in my opinion. Half the size or not at all in my view.

I did comment on the vid but you’ve a lot to wade through I see.

As you eluded to in the vid the trolly jack needs to move with the car going up, it could be your Jack wheels are sinking into your floor tiles and the jack base becomes locked down to the floor. Worth a thought as I see you say about the other jack being better, could potentially do the same thing.

Interesting point. Wonder if keeping a bit of flat plate to rest the jack on would be good practice (for all of us)?

Strangely, I did like the fog lamps and would have kept them if it was my car. It was a popular period mod in the 80's when people used to drive around with the fog lights on as some sort of strange status symbol. I put Cibie 35's on my RS2000 and in the day it was the nuts.

People still drive around with their fog lights on, especially in BMWs. I wish that I had rockets on my car to fire at such people.

Thanks all for the support.. I was almost going to cry.. but I feel ‘ok’ about it now. Car is improving the hole time so it’s a downer to have a big set back like that! Suspension bushes are the next priority I think! .... and a new trolley jack! Pro Apple have mentioned quickjacks but I think I’d struggle to have the space to store them and stuff..

For those that want the link to the video:
https://youtu.be/1tedbqyByZU

Separately last week I also drove a 308 that had been converted to electric with a Tesla motor. It was unreal.. I’ll post a separate thread on that with a link.
