I know these are crass questions, and feel free to ignore them, but you're purchasing some extraordinary cars for i would guess some sizeable sums of money, my questions are, how much have you spent so far, and what's the most you've spent on one car? They're genuine questions from someone who has no concept what so ever as to how much these cars are worth!!

After those epic pics of Pete's yellow Ferraris and with his Singer DLS in build I thought I'd throw in these pics of a Singer 964 'reimagined' from last weekend's Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace.

It’s a bit like putting UPVC windows on a Georgian house. Or should I say Georgian windows on a UPVC house? Errr... Not sure I like the backdate trend.

I’d take an official 911 50th Anni over that.
WHAT!!!!!!!!
Exactly. There lies the comment of a man who has never seen, admired, adored, licked, touched a Singer.

It’s one of very few cars I’ve examined in detail and come away thinking that it’s worth every penny of the £450k that that particular car cost. The other was a Zonda F about 10yrs ago.

Off to DK Engineering tomorrow to pick up my recently purchased 348 Competizione.
Hoping that my 250 Lusso is back from the sand blasters and I’ll be taking a good look at the 275 Competizione that I should be taking off their hands this December too.
Got all the special edition new models now so going to get all the Competizione models as they’ll be the ones that’ll definitely make my collection stand out.

Also some interesting news regarding a car club that I’m setting up alongside the museum as I’ve now got myself a 40 acre farm in Cheshire. No fookin about now people, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

always been curious about how these drive, 190kg less weight is nuts

its nowt like!

Its like taking a gorgeous tudor mansion and almost invisibly fitting triple glazing, electricity, gas, central heating, air conditioning, mood lighting, cat 6 network cabling, a cinema room, solar panels.

It still looks almost period correct but is better in almost every conceivable way!

Wonder if in twenty years or so people will be backdating 992's to look like full on 80s 911s like this ?

Hopefully not! The slant nose's are the worse generation of 911 imo. They just look wrong and cut/shut to my eyes.

I have seen one at goodwood before, they are nice but not half a million nice!! I would say £200k would be enough money for one, and I understand the level of detail, materials, time and craftsmanship on show! Pete what is it about the singer that you cant get from your mint condition classics? Or is it the fact you can bespoke everything if you wanted?

I dont get the concept, I would rather a lovely period classic in excellent condition and a modern sports car rather than a singer.

Obviously the OP has a massive range of cars and the singer is part of a wider collection, all singers produced probably are I guess!?

A DLS I think is knocking on the doors of 7 figures. But then, completely bespoke engine, completely re-engineered for the finest drive possible with performance several levels beyond anything a classic could deliver, but still a truly analogue driving experience. Then there's the level of quality throughout the interior alone, they are jewelry. Classic driving experience for the modern age, it's a concept I completely understand. £200k wouldn't get you a nicely modified 964RS with a shabby interior, let alone a highly bespoke fully redeveloped 911......

Thats whats cool about cars, you will find something appealing that I find crazy especially at £1million!!! there are cars that offer analogue driving experiences, Pete has a few, carrera gt is the obvious one. A Porsche 911 isn't particularly good looking either IMO so that doesn't help!

I get the £5million+ classics as the car has a story, you are buying the history of the car and a beautiful object, however you don't get that with a Singer..

Nice car, I nearly bought a 348 Comp from Maranello Egham many years ago, it was about £27k at the time IIRC.

I've had to work the Atom to keep up with one round Dunsfold. Whilst I'm sure I'd be fractionally quicker if we were both on the limits, there'd not be much in it.

Lyrics to The Wurzels song 'Combine Harvester' spring to mind.

Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key"
