Do you still have a half decent radiator lying spare, Sniff? If so, how much would you want for it? Mine's died and I need a cheap fix before my next full pay cheque.
Adam, you have PM.
Hi Rich,

I never received this PM. I sent you one as well when I didn't get it, but I never got a response from that either. Is the PM thing working?

Cheers,
Adam.

Saw you out in the ring-mobile today Rich; I was cycling in the opposite direction over the welsh bridge and gave it a good gawp yes

Seen you out in it a fair bit around the shrew, looks very impressive! I want one tongue out

Cool, was just bedding in my new brakes as I'm off to Snetterton tomorrow.

Managed to do this to the old ones: yikes

Amazing how pads can wear 50% quicker on the left side of the car than on the right.

I felt bad when I saw then as I'd let Tim Arnold drive the car for the last few laps, he mentioned it was "pulling to the right a bit under braking" I think he was being too polite about the car.

Yeah Phill, I'd already had a bonnet pin come undone at Cadwell in September and down the Rivett straight at about 115mph it was flapping about a bit so I thought the gaffer tape would stop the air getting under it should the worst happen. I've got some aero catches to go on now so that should sort it out.

The best lap time I saw from Snetterton on saturday was 1:28.50
Without wanting to blow my own trumpet not much overtook me that day, I've got some videos of the day but unfortunately they have no sound so are a bit dull to watch.

ETA: Here's a video taken from a supercharged Clio 172 running about 230-240bhp. At around 6:26 he lifts off to let me overtake, I'm then able to pull away over the lap.

And another from the point of view of a DC2 driver, I overtake him a 2:30

'Good stuff Rich!! It's re-awaked my project. My poor old 325i has been just sat for six months+ since I fitted the fibreglass bonnet & coilovers. Now I've moved house, and settled into new a job I can get back to my own ring-shed smile

How can pads wear quicker on one side than the other? My mx-5 is doing the same and I'm confused. Easily done.

Sticky caliper is the main cause

Both my calipers are free and easy (insert joke here). Is it possible to have better braking efficiency on one side of the car?

Got 3 sets of 328i sport BBS 2 peice wheels as they're nice and light and strong, and can be had cheaply if you don't care what they look like. They're all the 7.5" wide 17" diameter rims, with either Yokohama WTCC slicks, Dunlop BTCC wets, or the Kumho road tyres.

Following on from the end of this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... E36 M3

I've been busy on the 325i today, the whole front end unbolts giving easy access to get the engine out:

Had the old one out by lunchtime:

Then the rear axle came off:

The old 325i axle (minus diff as that's been sold already!) next to the M3 Evo axle:

I managed to do deal to part ex my old 3.0l M3 axle for this one that's come off an S reg SMG car so the diff will have had less abuse. The Evo diff also has a lower 3.23 diff ratio (3.15 for the 3l M3) to lower the gearing a touch, hollow drive shafts, and the larger diff casing that will accept the E46 M3 3.62 diff internals that I have to fit at some point in the future.

Got the fuel tank, fuel lines, and brake lines all off. These will all be replaced and run through the inside of the car.

As you can see from the pictures, there are a few patches of rust. Tomorrow I will be grinding off all the under-seal, and have a chap coming to do some welding for the rear diff reinforcement plates, front roll cage turrets, front subframe reinforcement plates, and whatever holes I find in the chassis.

Once it's taken back to bare metal all rust will be treated and painted over with Epoxy mastic 121.
