Obviously you’re a busy man 2MC but if you have a spare hour can you just film the LFA being revved over and over?! It has to be up there with the best sounding car of all time.
I’ll do you one better, I’ll put my LFA and my Porsche CGT next together and rev both the V10s at the same time
Put that on YouTube and you'll make another million after it goes viral! Must be two of the most googled engine sounds on the net. smile

What a fantastic guy you are.

Fair play for, excuse the Alan Partridge, bouncing back after all that has happened, great to see you living the dream!

Happily make a nice donation to your chosen charity for a chance to ride in the DB5 and / or Pagina Zonda; are you interested or planning to use them like they do at "Sporting Bears?"

Just watching an old top gear on Dave where they first test the LFA.
Hammond loved it, apart from the price. Clarkson ridiculed the price, but i think at a later date he then drove it and said it was his favourite car, ever.

Think you will be having lots of chats with geeks like me at every stop..
Non-geeks wont have a clue what it is...

Arriving a bit late to this thread as I'm not on PH as much as I once was, but I have to say this is exactly the type of thing that PH throws up every now and then that really restores your faith in humanity.

Pete, kudos to you for sharing your passion, not to mention wealth, to help others that are less fortunate. One of my closest friends - we met in 1st year at high school when we were 12 - unfortunately succumbed to a DIPG brain tumour (inoperable, and primarily associated with children; someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread) in July this year, at the age of 37 and just 9 days after marrying his wonderful girlfriend. They were assisted in their nuptial arrangements by Gift of a Wedding who hastily pulled together a raft of suppliers, all of which donated their time, skills and products to make their special day a wonderfully poignant occasion. If you ever get the chance I'm sure some exotic transport could really help bring an extra smile to someone's face in an altogether difficult time.

If you're ever organising anything charitable up in the Edinburgh direction I'd be happy to lend some time, or even just buy you a pint if you're passing through.

Also have followed on Instagram - srvben on there.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and sorry if you have already mentioned this but I just wondered if your experiences were the same as mine.
I came home from hospital saturday night after suffering a seizure very early friday morning. I don't really remember much about except for the amazing paramedics trying to coax me from out under the bed. I seemed to have shot up, groaned and moaned, fell out of bed, smashed my face on the radiator and collapsed in a heap with blood coming out of my eyes and mouth, the wife was rather scared as you can imagine.
Anyway cut a long story short I have some sort of cyst on my brain since birth and with work stress it decided to stop me in my tracks for a bit.
I'm trying now to piece things back together memory wise.
But yes very scary and totally takes you by surprise. All the best to you for the future.

And all the very best to you too, that sounds absolutely dreadful. I wish you a full recovery.

That's going to require precision parking and epic gymnastic footwork. If you find yourself struggling I'd be delighted to come over and rev one of them for you smile

Hi everyone
Sorry I’ve not been replying much on here, I’ve been having a bad time lately with my health. My brain is still healing and the scar tissue from my surgery is causing a lot of issues even 3 years on. I’ll try to reply to as many people as I can but as you can appreciate typing is screwing up my eyes at the moment.

Hi
I’m sorry to hear about your seizure (sounds like it was a grand mal) which can be terrifying. I hope you’re recovering well.
You might be wondering why you’re only having a seizure now, well that’s just simply timing. A seizure is due to the electricity in the brain misfiring and causing it to literally reboot. My neurosurgeon said if we lived to be a million years old then EVERYONE would have at least one seizure in their lives.
A seizure is bad, especially a grand mal seizure but living with the anxiety of having another one is even worse. There’s some days where I’m simply just ‘holding on’ to life and hoping I can get through the day without one, even though I’ve not had one in ages.
As far as the cyst is concerned then I am truly sorry to hear about that. If they are calling it a cyst then you’ve already had an MRI. My tumour was called a colloid cyst, and it’s usually in one of the hardest to reach places in your brain. It’s in the foramen of monro in the 3rd ventricle. Basically slap bang in the middle of the brain (between the two ventricles) and at the base of the middle. It’s a very intrusive surgery and one that leaves a LOT of scar tissue in the grey matter. I really really hope you’ve not got a colloid cyst but if you have then it’s a case of getting that sucker ripped out. I went in for my surgery on Monday 15th December 2014 after collapsing in Las Vegas in the October (just like how you described your episode), the surgeons said that I’d have been dead by the Friday if I’d not have had the surgery due to hydrocephalus in my left ventricle. It was so enlarged that I was literally a ticking time bomb. They said if I’d have just bent over to tie my shoelaces then I’d have put too much pressure on my ventricle and I’d have simply just died there and then (I never tie my laces so I’m lucky, really really lucky). I pushed for the surgery too as I was going to Miami in the April for the ultra music festival so I wanted to be healthy again (not realising that it takes approximately 10 years to get anywhere near normal).
Please ask your doctors to do a full MRI on you, especially looking for a CSF build up in any of your ventricles. A cyst in the brain is a silent killer but I’m not too sure about a cyst ON the brain.
I wish you all the best with your current situation and please feel free to email me if you have any concerns or simply just want to speak. It can be a very dark, lonely and confusing time dealing with seizures due to the brain. I’m here if you need to offload your worries or thoughts.
Stay strong.
Pete

Hi Pete, many thanks for this.
I have had a full MRI scan, which showed 'bilateral heterotopic grey matter' and then ' a septated pineal cyst at the upper limits of normal size at 17mm but there are no concerning radiological features'.

I am on Lamotrigine daily.
I feel ok in my self, except for crazy headaches which are side effects of the tablets, and get sleepy in the afternoon. Other than that I am ok.
Off work until the new year at least.
Cheers and all the best and thanks for your words.

I just want to wish you both the very best of luck with your health (OP & Sir Humphrey). We often take our health for granted and it's not until things like this arise, do we understand the value of it.

OP, you are clearly a very kind individual and one who does great good for others. More power to your elbow and I hope your health improves.

Pete, I've just read the whole thread start-finish.

Your car collection through to your charity work is outstanding! Sorry to hear your health as knocked you a step back.

I've followed you on IG (@dickielawes) and look forward to seeing your updates when your health returns.

What an awesome thread full of humility, humbleness, honesty, integrity and some fantastic cars, wish you all the best for the future and if I had a car worth bringing to your charity soiree then I would .... but my lowly Z4 won't cut it.

Have to say one of the things that made me chuckle most is your undying love for the 695, you have all this fantastic machinery and thats the one you miss .... says a lot.
