Pic of the fuel pump and underneath the car, which is looking pretty tidy:

This cheap old American metal sure is vulnerable to rust frown

Yup it certainly is, but so far (apart from the window frame), it's not been too bad.

I tend to find the steel on those big old boats is quite thick, which does help offset the corrosion somewhat.

They certainly seem to hold up better than European metal of similar vintage.

Rear welding and painting is coming together nicely:

Ugly indicators have been consigned to the bin, although I have seemly lost the replacement metal strip, the previous indicators had a hold cut through the metal panel and the underlying panel, Chris made a temp solution to cover the holes until I can find a replacement.

Update time!

The drivers side door is back on with new hinge pins so it should sit properly, the front passenger door is currently being worked on, it looks like it will need a lot more work sadly. In other exciting news the windscreen came off and..... did not crack! The window fitter said that the screen had been replaced before and had way too much adhesive, and also was badly fitter (shock!), so water had got in, still could be worse:

Work is continuing on the TC.

All the rust on each door has been sorted, the hinge pins have also been replaced so each door closes properly! The next big thing is the rust repair on the windscreen, which is starting this week - hopefully its just surface.....

Attacking the rust:

Closer look plenty of prior bodge:

Ground away at it and...is that metal underneath?

My god it is!!

So it looks like all it needs is some rust treatment, bit of filler and some paint and the windscreen is ready to go back in!

Whilst I’ve been distracted with issues (see my Lexus thread), this car has still been progressing!

Windscreen frame repair is all completed and reinstalled, and the car is moving to the final stage:

New wings!

I’ve also managed to locate another egr spacer and with the help of a colleague in the USA shipped it outside of eBays shipping network so it should arrive next week!

This means that once I drop it off (and collect the wheels so I can swap the tyres over), I will officially have *the fastest 80s era town car in the uk*

It’s an elite class but I will be the clear leader!

Glad to hear some good news.

Is it a class of one by any chance?

.....maybe.

Actually I don't know how many 80s TCs are in the UK at this point.

I wonder what lurks beneath the bottom of the C-pillar under the vinyl roof. That's what concerns me.

Only good things, for sure.

Realistically it will have some rust but the roof line is not deformed, nor is there any tell tale rust in any of the common locations expected. I will get the roof replaced (if I ultimately decide to keep the car after this), likely next year as I have spent more than enough on it this year.
