Not much news here.
Using the car occasionally. Fires up fine and runs brilliantly. Much smoother when cold than my newer Porsche which feels like it's complaining about the weather. In fact the 996 when cold feels no different really. The revs are perhaps a tiny bit higher but that's it.
I did find the pass door unwilling to open the other day using the outside handle. Car was definitely unlocked. Then I tried again a few days late and it worked.
I did have a pleasant slide round a slow 2nd gear bend where I had to use a bit of opposite lock - well a tiny bit of steering angle so not really lock - which I assume was due to some form of crud on the road as there was no way it was speed induced.
I also had a play with a dash cam too. The footage was pretty good. Definitely made me realise why I do not want one in the car - in any of my cars - full time. If you get stopped by the police for an indiscretion I can't see you ever getting away with it if you have a dash cam.

Been commuting with my 996 this week (or year) as my other Porsche is nackered. It's a little bit tiresome in start stop urban environments with pot holed roads and speed bumps but the feel good factor wins. Had a couple of comments from random strangers saying nice car. Usually it's older gentlemen so maybe the youths aren't brave enough to speak to strangers. I've not quite worked out a good answer so I just say thanks - how very British of me.
I have made one observation - which is very minor. I can definitely feel a bit more delicacy in the throttle pedal now that I'm wearing formal work shoes with a more rigid sole. Previously I've only driven the car in trainers. The brake pedal too feels better. Whenever I've seen people with driving shoes I've thought come on mate you're having a laugh. Now I'm seriously considering getting some.

How's the ride feeling these days with the KW Coilovers - mellowed out a bit? Did the seized adjuster ever get sorted?
It's ok as in it's tolerable. Its not awful but in and around town with pot holes and speed bumps it's less than ideal. My 981 with standard simple suspension can attacks speed bumps at speed and is never unsettled. Some small road undulatins can get the 996 airborn if carrying enough speed and I don't mean ridiculous speeds either. It's not just the dampers, it's got stiffer bushes and roll bars too. I did manage to get some of the adjusters moved but some are jammed. So I guess the only thing to do next is get them refurbed. I've not used the 996 all week with the icy weather as I've got winter tyres on my big BMW so seems stupid not to use it. Also my usual route to work is riddled with speed bumps and pot holes. So today I went a longer route and the car was a joy. They get better if you drive something else. I keep saying this. If you drive them everyday you forget how good they are. But today I had a big grin on my face. Even at or around 30mph I can nick the gears up to 3rd - 4th is really revving too low at 30. All the feel and feedback just pottering is just great. 21 years old now since the New Year as far as i am concerned and getting better with age. I still find myself looking at 997 cars but that will never go away. I am a serial car fan and that means buying more cars eventually, right?
996 looks great amongst all those euro boxes!
I've replaced window regulators three times and don't want to do it again.

Looking good ATM, are you using it as a daily now with the Boxster bashed? I tried getting into mine the other day and both the doors were frozen solid, it took quite a bit of persuasion to actually get in
I always chuck hot water from the tap over my window and door handle before attempting to open it when it's frosty. Make sure the window can drop when it attempts to. Gummi fledge on the seals helps too. I've replaced window regulators three times and don't want to do it again.

Thinking about selling this now. Really don't want to but a move means a lot less parking and I'm currently up to 4 cars. Need to get this down to just 1 which I don't care about.
Just to update the parking situation. I have moved now and therefore parking isn't as simple. Right now I have 1 car outside at a time. The BMW is getting used because it has winter tyres. I'm leaving the 996 abandoned about 3 miles away which is far from ideal. So if I want to drive it then I'd swap the 2 round and abandon the BMW.That looks a generous parking bay!
I generally park the furthest away from the supermarket door where there are lots of empty spaces - guarantee someone parks next to me by rhe time I get back !!
Mornings and evenings getting that little bit lighter and the sun has a bit more warmth in it so the toys will be out soon (or used more in the case of the 911!)
