I haven't done any detailed measurements, but it is certainly asymmetrical. Had to crank the right hand side of the rear deck up about 50 mm to get the snorkels looking level and the doors are certainly not mirror images of each other. As I recall the front wheel arches are also not perfectly aligned with each other and have slightly different dimensions.

I read somewhere that the lack of symmetry was one of the clues as to how authentic a car was. Make of that what you will.

Expansion tank on and all plumbed in. Electronic speedo drive fitted too. Edging ever closer.

I’m basing my entire build on that premise... hehe

Simply perfect, have you had it running yet?
No, not yet. Still some weeks away from that.

Spent a couple of days down in Invercargill helping out at the workshop, so some progress made. Carb linakges done.

Roundel lights and ID lights fitted.

Can't believe the OH wanted me to throw this old electric carving knife out a few years back. Turns out to be the perfect tool for trimming safety foam to size to fit in the fuel tanks.

Right hand fule tank stuffed with foam and strapped in place. Going to cost a bit to fill at 43 litres each side...

Another couple of days down in Invercargill helping John. All gauges, warning lights and switches wired up and operational, as are the electric water pump, speedo, wiper, and windscreen washers. Both fuel tanks now in, filler necks installed and filler caps both on.

Some more progress. Door pulls fitted; coil and distributor on and plug leads made; dash pretty much finished, with all switches, gauges and lights functional; brake and clutch reservoirs in.

More fiddly bits done. Dry cell battery locked in and wired up, so she has her own power now. Convenient footrest for the passenger too... biggrin

Fuel pressure gauge on and dipstick fitted.

Stainless stone guard made and fitted.

Spent yesterday getting the fuel system nailed together. Looking good so far and the SW pumps are making all the right noises. Just need to plumb in the lines to the tanks now to make sure there are no leaks.

Hoping for a little over 400 bhp, but in a car at only weighs a bit over 1000 kg it should be plenty.

The MKIIs (427 cu in) were putting out about 465 hp in 1966 as I recall. The MK1s were in the range of 350 - 425 (or thereabouts) depending on engine specification.

As usual, for every two steps forward there seems to be one back. Plumbed in the tanks so we can get fuel to the pumps and find that one of the pumps leaks. Bugga! Will need to strip it down and check seals...
