I do not like the idea of the mordern carbon type on the jag etc hence the period look. And quite rightly spotted any venting on the bonnet sides will allow the rain to drip on the the coil packs and injectors - mind not too sure where the water would drain to after the inlet manifold!

Decided to run as is and if gets too hot on track will lift the bonnet at the back or run without then fit vents. Will also fit timer relay to keep fan running for 10 mins after shutdown if fan was running before shutdown, as the standard ecu/pcm turns fan off when you stop the engine!

I managed a few laps of Croft at the weekend. I got on track after a day in a Radical turbo, 911 and a MX5 so was up to speed very quickly in the Escort which soon highlighted its lack of grip when on road tyres at normal pressure! With the right diff it feels it will drift all day if thats your bag! Temperature crept up but once I stopped reving it to the red line it started dropping off again. Brakes were spot on too. Now not sure when I will get chance to take it on track again as most weekends booked untill the backend of the year. So make me an offer!

Fame at last! The Escort is the cover car in this months PPC. Really pleased with the story only downside is that there are no drive by shots of which we took loads with the photographer hanging out the back of the camera car. Also a mate from work stated that there are no shots of the rear end from the underside which he thinks is the most trick bit!

24 hours from removing the diff to try a change in the viscous fluid this happened! I was trying to show a mate how poor the lsd was by giving it some on a wet road!
So now skipping the uprated viscous route and going straight to the gripper solution. Just hope the 3.62 ratio is going to be Ok.

All change! Decided after taken tons of advice from the big power cossie boys I have ditched the cosies diff and gone for a Supra turbo unit. First mounting completed tonight - only 6 more to make!

Cheers for that advice. The flanges are from MK, I did not buy the rest of the kit as I am not using the Sierra beam as you can see. But I did think that the rear mount could be weak when only using the two top bolts and I will be adding more bracing to pick-up the two bottom ones. I just need to think of a design that looks good as well as been functional.

Diff in and complete. I had a slight delay due to not realising that the MK side flanges are tapped standard metric and not fine. So just when I thought I was finished and only need to fit the cv joints to the flanges I had to leave it for a few days until some new bolts arrived.
I had one test run around the block last night and all feels very good but I was not keen on too much testing in the dark! You never know who is watching! But it holds a drift loads better than the viscous cossie diff as you would expect it also is not as noisy.

Well I hope I have done my home work!
The supra diff is some 8 kg heavier due to the pig iron case and not alloy as the cossie is. But then again the cossie case only breaks when the internals fall out with each other and one is asked to 'pick a window'.
If you do a search you will find all the big power cossie boys and v8 conversions are using them. Just hope I am right!

Hi Finlay

The arb has been there from day one( well since I built it!). Suppose I should disconnect it at some point to see if it makes a difference!
How is your beast going?

Hi Finlay

Wow you have gone to 13s eh. I have stuck with the 15s. There is no way I can get any smaller due to my brake set-up which is now spot on. I am quite close to spot on with the handling too now and the Supra diff must have been modified cos it is so so tight!
Actually spent time tonight sorting my data logger out - first time I have looked at it since last summer. Got it working now and went out tonight to check on slightly damp roads and had wheel spin in fourth without trying so can understand totally how you had you mishap.
Still no rolling road as still not sure if I have a cooling problem or not! I need to see if I need a bigger rad or not then we can see what it is actually putting out.

I tried a couple of 0 to 60 runs last night both were 4 sec. But need to sort the method of getting there! First run was via keeping in second and running into the rev limiter. The second was via changing up to third at the last moment but this resulted in a very slow gear change. So I think I will try a short shift into third to see if I can get a quicker shift. Next a 'private' road to check the 0 to 100!
