I paid good money for them a few years ago off a Mr. Jackson from America!

Last video now. Shame I can't find any from anyone else. I find it hard to believe people spend a fortune on modifying their cars and don't even get a gopro!

This is the point where I'm starting to get the confidence to push the car and it all started coming together...

Ford have just released the 5 door here in the UK frown that said I think I still would have taken the Polo.

Yep tuning on these like any turbo motor should be fairly straight forward and cheap although the clutch is the first weak point.

I watch them all the time! Especially if it's at a circuit I haven't been to yet! A few years ago I was able to drive Bedford at a half decent pace as I'd watched a decent drivers videos from there.

It's all good watching back your own videos to see where you can improve but it's also good to see a rear view of it moving around from someone else's perspective imo

1. There is plenty of video of professional drivers and there is nothing like learning the track yourself or with an instructor
2. Fine. But no on else cares
1. Usually the professionals are driving properly fast cars which is no good if you are driving a 200bhp hatchback
2. The watch figures on my channel seem to contradict what you say.

I spend money upgrading my cars & never record any action, this may have something to do with seeing fellow bikers/petrol heads getting prosecuted for enjoy themselves I think it's a fine line.
There shouldn't be any need to record naughtiness on the road. That I do agree with. But hiring or taking your own car around track shouldn't get you in any trouble. That's what trackdays (in my eyes) are for. Nice environment to enjoy the car in a manner that is completely different to how it normally "lives it's life.

I just don't understand when these pieces of equipment are so cheap nowadays more people don't have them especially when they are in powerful cars that have cost a lot of money - is 50 quid that much of a biggy to pay to watch yourself get harassed by a hatchback with half the horsepower lol

Cringe all you like it just shows people spend a fortune on modifying their cars when they would be better off modifying their driving!

Found out my 2:29 at Snetterton is faster than the autocar test driver could manage in the Mountune Fiesta ST which shows that either I'm awesome (unlikely) or that the Fiesta hype is just that.

I went through this stage, blindly justifying why the car I had was better than the next, picking useless stats to validate my choice.....

I suppose we all experience this in our late teens.

So in that test the Polo was the DSG version with 185lb/ft versus the manuals 236lb/ft) and from a standing start (because that's how all tests are done and there's no way that it could be down to a bad launch or anything)

I just think it's suspicious when I know someone with many mods on his ST (springs, upper and lower intake, revo stage 2, tyres, exhaust, intercooler) and he's not a bad driver by any means and he's "only" done a 2:27 which certainly makes me question the validity of these tests as a lot of publications are very biased against VAG products for example the Leon Cupra 280 always seemed to lose against the clock to the Megane 265 even though it took the ring record from it etc

I don't question the Fiesta as a good car and I'm not even saying the Polo is as good dynamically but it's a joke to say one is definitively better than the other when my whole 6 month ownership experience proves there's more to the Polo than people give it credit for!

When on trackdays people come up and tell me they are genuinely shocked by its performance (such as the k swap 200bhp lotus Elise owner) as they thought it was just a bland VW warm hatch that understeer everywhere I do think the ST is a bit overhyped (possibly because it's a global platform and it's the first decent hatch America has had in a while, funnily enough they don't sell the Polo across the pond wink

I know the guy and he's quick! Still doesn't explain why all the versus tests are featuring the inferior torque wise DSG box.

It also uses a downsized ea888 engine as featured in the Leon, Gti, R, RS3 etc so it can also be taken to decent power levels quite easily.

I'm happy with it. Just sick of the "should have got an ST comments" when clearly it's not the car for ME

When was that said? It wasn't.

Examples were given against a similar car. That is all. No one claimed the Polo to be better than it was just, that it's better than most people think.

Simple. Just don't do it in your own car wink

Technically it doesn't say that track days void the warranty just time trials and racing.

In fact track days aren't even mentioned. I think it's a grey area and also what's to stop you going out right now and thrashing it for a full 24 hours on the road? Nothing. Yet you can bet that you are still covered.

I've already had one stock turbo let go on me after only 5000 miles on the road and that was at 70mph. That said a few people have had the same issue even after only a couple of hundred miles. The replacement turbo was a different part number so hopefully they have that problem sorted now although there was never a recall.

Usually go out for a warm up and then maybe 3-4 laps so about 10 mins at a time I guess.

That's more for brake and tyre cooling as it's a completely stock car I've been using.

Servicing has been done as per the recommendations although that's purely just oil change and look over for the first one.

That's cheap for everything I got with it to be honest. A bog spec ST is around that price and that's without the extras I got such as the options, free insurance, gap insurance etc.

Modified mountune one at Snetterton but flew past so I'm guessing it was his first time.

If you flew past it & it was a Mountune 215 then you already (as you've acknowledged) know it wasn't being driven to it's potential as you're car wouldn't pass it in a straight line with the power output of your car.

Why not stop worrying about the ST (deep down you know it's the better hot hatch) & enjoy your car maybe make it more trackday focused seeing as you enjoy them why not make it a sweeter experience, even something like Poly Bushes will make a big difference without sacrificing to much ride quality.
Of course it would be very hard to fly past with the same (ish) figures!

I'm not saying the Fiesta is bad quite the contrary I just think this is a better all rounder which surely makes it better (at least in my mind) and I don't like the fact every Gary and his dog has the Fiesta which somehow in my mind makes it worse.

I've already got a wishlist (in order)

Pads
Tyres
LSD
Wheels
