My First AMG - ridiculously excited !!
Discussion
It's finally back home, just picked it up.
Looks immaculate again and although it was a shame I couldn't get an AMG V 16 spoke replacement wheel, the BBS CH-Rs look great imo and really suit the car. Need to take the protective tape off though
Come 9pm when I finish work, I'm back out again for a drive.
Absolutely buzzing !!

Glad you’ve finally got it home - that’s been a looong time!
The wheels look great
Thanks Bud ! The wheels look great
Yes, it's been quite the saga...Just happy to have it back and a new subframe/suspension/wing to boot.
Gonna book it into SWRP next month to get it Dinitrol'd and protect all the new bits and that bracket on the front wing/bumper.
Thanks for all the comments, really appreciated !
I'm just enjoying driving it in the nice weather we've been having lately. I went out with the intention of having a nice roof down drive on Friday when I had a day off, but had to come home as quite frankly, it was too hot ! (29C)
Looking forward to going to Re:Fuel in a couple of weekend's time with SiT and some other guys. Hopefully should be a good day/drive and fingers crossed the weather holds up.

Had to go to that there London to install a new Firewall in our office. Decided to drive as I didn't fancy sitting for 2 hours with a facemask on.There and back on 1/2 a tank (the journey back was quite a bit quicker than the journey there as I just wanted to get home !)
Continue to be impressed at how economic this is on a cruise, overall 29.8 MPG. It also doesn't disgrace itself compared to its surroundings in Mayfair.

So...back to car hospital for the problem child...
I've been experiencing conductor plate symptoms recently and scanned the car revealing
Spoke to Steve at avantgarde and was on my way there to have him scan it on Star when it went into limp mode
So...
Its now at avantgarde awaiting full diagnosis but expecting its conductor plate and potentially valve body replacement time.
It's slowly but surely reinventing itself as a brand new car after all the bits that have been replaced...
Should really have the mods rename the title to : My First AMG - ridiculously expensive !!

Well that's disappointing hope it's not too hard on the wallet......
They just rang, it's the valve body that needs replacing. It's a 'Theft relevant' part, so for avantgarde to order it they need
Copy of my DL
Copy of 2nd page of V5
Letter from me authorising them to order it.
It's £1500 all in (and I get another fluid change and filter for that).
Oh well, once it's done that should be it...Another known 'issue' with the car ticked off !
Gearbox all sorted back last year and drives so much better now So, as it was such a nice day I went and did some shopping and decided to see if I could capture the noise of the X-pipe using my phone on my dashboard mount....hence the funny angle.

Also managed a couple of cheeky pics in the sun near Litton on the way back with it covered in dust from the lanes

Haven't updated this for ages !
I'm off to cars on the green (downside abbey) tomorrow so decided to give it some tlc
Auto finesse dynamite (TFR)
2 bucket wash
Clay bar
Then my all time fave product for black cars. Bilt Hamber AutoBalm. Brilliant stuff, it's amazing at hiding swirl marks, which on a black car that's nearly 16 years old stand out like a sore thumb
Some autosol and fine wire wool on the exhaust.
Arms ache a bit now though, but well worth the effort. Came out well in the end
Onto some pics

So I've had an alert on ebay for almost a year now for a missing AMG V 16 spoke rear wheel and it just popped up !!
All mine now, so I have a full set again of the AMG wheels ! Needs a refurb (as do my other 3 being that they are painted obsidian black)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304553024570
What to do now ? Sell the CHR's and put the originals on or sell the AMG V's ???

Great to meet you tonight, and many thanks for a speedy deal on the wheels. I do think your 55 looks fantastic on the CH-Rs, and my planned option was to copy you were nothing to come up (which I had felt bad about).
Juice was kind enough to demonstrate the cold start up with the X-pipe modification. My word! That is some thunder! Definitely going to do the same to mine.
I will post a picture once the wheels are refurbed and tyred.

The Skoda Citigo was packed to the rafters that's for sure
My Blower had got really loud recently, like it was grinding....Then the other day completely died. Scanned it with the MBII scanner revealing a 0 voltage fault. So bit the bullet and ordered a new blower motor then summoned up the courage to get stuck in.
Warning, you basically need 3 arms for this !
Remove the under dash cover (torx screws)
Peel back the carpet
Remove the foam insert in the footwell
Remove the under dash cover plugs for the footwell light and 12V power outlet. Then remove cover fully.
Remove the Filter and housing
Unscrew the blower (the torx screws at the back are REALLY fiddly to get to)
Unplug the power (x2)
And it looked like this
Comparing the old with the new, its pretty obvious it was FUBAR
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O742W9MBShI
Took the regulator off the old one, put it onto the new fan and into the car to test before installing....which was basically reverse of the above.

Great Success !
Put everything back together and tested again

New blower cost 200 quid, about an hour and a half of my time. God knows what that would have cost at the garage !
That's the 2nd bit of spannering I've done today, after replacing the rear wiper motor on the Jazz....Phew, time for a lie down

We're off to Brockenhurst tomorrow for the weekend and going to Simply Mercedes at Beaulieu on Sunday. So broke out the DAS with some Megs Ultimate Compound.
The car's got some fairly extensive swirls and I was never going to get 100% so opted for some Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine (for it's filling capabilities) and then Poorboys Blackhole over the top.
Cleaned and dressed the leather and gave it a damn good hoover !
Took 5 1/2 hours from initial wash/clay to finish.
Looking forward to the event, should be some nice cars there
