Brakes Update
Front brake judder & noise has now been resolved. Fresh front Disks, Pads & Sensor from BMW. Fitted with the help of a very close friend who also happens to be a senior JLR tech. Note to self - always change pads and disks ...
The 35d will be seeing its first trip into Europe next month ... France, Belgium and Holland
Detailer coming over next week to give the car a well deserved deep clean - interior & exterior. All wheels will be taken off and calipers/ arches will be decontaminated and deep cleaned. Totally loving this car !

I'm jealous of the road trip. Managed a quick run to the ring in september but I'm dying for a proper run somewhere!
Nice results with the map, Unicorn seem to know their stuff, never heard a bad word said about them.
Thats great to hear - bet your 340i is a right beast ! I cancelled my euro plans last year a bit gutted. Looking forward to heading out next month ... long overdue. Nice results with the map, Unicorn seem to know their stuff, never heard a bad word said about them.

I’ve heard a few say Harry Fairbairn Kirkcaldy BMW are good price wise. I’ll give them a whirl. I usually use Cotswold BMW but a few things have been more expensive than expected.
Do make sure they apply the forum discount. They’ll be cheaper than Cotswold BMW for sure ... Court_S said:

Great work Peetee!
Re Alpina, I think BMW has now got itself into a position where it is happy to produce the kinds of niche vehicles that in the past only Alpina would have attempted. Given enormous development costs that leaves Alpina with very little, outside trim and styling options. Obviously in the background they do a lot of engineering work for BMW anyway.
It would be great to have an Alpina but the standard car is now so good, and can be cheaply tailored.
It’s a shame but there are advantages to having a standard production car in terms of parts and servicing availability

@TGR, you're not far wrong I reckon. What you say reminded me of the Shmee150 tour of BMW Individual, I was left staggered by some of the options available! (Said video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzUNfzII008)

Wow. Where do you walk your dog and how big is it that you need a towing strap for a lead?!That’s a great video from Shmee150. I’m going to come clean and say I have a medical condition with Individual spec BMW’s.
The rope was delivered to good friends a couple of evenings ago where it was used to help tow a Range Rover stuck in deep mud. In the end it took 2 Range Rovers to take the 3rd one out. Safe to say the 335d had no role other than to transport the tow rope to and from the location
The 35d performed really well in snow - very impressed with how the PS4’s and x-drive coped. Here’s a snap from my dashcam. Slight up hill gradient. Winter tyres would be complete overkill for my application. I will be looking for studless Nordic Tyres and 400m wheels soon as the car will be making a trip to Tromso Norway end of the year

Thread Update
Had some final bits of coding done to improve a small annoying feature which has been on my to do list for a while now. The factory apple car play software doesn’t support full screen Google Maps on the iDrive – there was a lot of wasted space.
Spoke to a well-known local BMW coding specialist ‘ZED coding’ about the possibility of enabling full screen Google Maps on the iDrive. After an approx. 45 minutes software update I’m pleased with the results. Exactly how I want it now …
The car will not be altered in any other way now. I’ve got it exactly how I want it. It would be a fair comment to make that from factory these cars are lovely but with a few modifications they can be tailored to become just spot on.

I've gone from a 320d xdrive to a 330d xdrive and they are completely different animals. It's not quite a 335d but the difference between the 2.0 and 3.0 engines is amazing.
I've the got the bilstein lowering springs in the garage ready to go on at some point and I'll get it remapped too when I've got some spare cash.
On winter wheels and tyres at the mo, but looks pretty badass
That looks excellent James. You'll love it even more post remap. What tyre size have you got on the front and back for the winter setup?I've the got the bilstein lowering springs in the garage ready to go on at some point and I'll get it remapped too when I've got some spare cash.

Being quite an active member of my local area neighbourhood watch, me and a few local volunteers are at hand to help residents with any essential journeys & food supplies. We also help NHS workers get to work if they cannot due to bad weather. This is all done around work & family commitments. Lost count yesterday of how many cars I drove past who were either stuck or struggling on uphill gradients. Needless to say, the car performed excellent in the snow despite being on Michelin PS4's …
The retractable tow bar came in handy. This time for another type of use ….

Amazing motor and tastefully modded, here's mine and my dad's F31's. The 67 plate is the 35d and the 18 is my dad's 320i. Amazing how similar they are but couldn't be further apart. Even more so when mines got a CSF intercooler, air filter and map by NV Motorsport. I did notice Peetee that you have the speed limit info in your HUD, do you have the camera at the top of the windscreen seperate from the high-beam assist cam? Mine came with the HUD option but the only camera I can see is for the high-beam assist so doubt I can get the speed limit info.
I'm about 20 mins from Tamworth so if you're ever fancying some scenic driving I'll tag along.
Mike
2 F31’s in the family … love it. I’ve heard nothing but great things about NV Motorsport. Bet it fly’s ! NV Motorsport have a presence at vmax200 – nice to see. Your 35d sits very nicely, do you have lowering springs too? I'm about 20 mins from Tamworth so if you're ever fancying some scenic driving I'll tag along.

Until 2 weeks ago I thought all F3X’s with the S610 Head-Up Display optional extra displayed the speed limit info – but was told otherwise by a good friend. I rechecked the spec sheet and realised I have the S8TH Road Sign Detection option – genuinely didn’t know. There must be a way to retro fit it though …
Absolutely … we’ll need to round up the estate’s for some driving and photo op’s. Maybe when the lockdown eases a touch
Thread Update,
Been researching winter wheels the last few months. BMW factory recommendation is going for a square winter setup on the F31 335d X-Drive – all four wheels and tyres being the exact same. Having the M Performance brake callipers, the minimum wheel size I can use is 18 inch. BMW’s recommendation on 18 inch winter wheels are as follow. FOUR options,
1. Style 397
2. Style 405M
3. Style 415
4. Style 658
Here is the evidence to BMW’s square setup recommendation. 8Jx18 FRONT & REAR axle. Tyre size 225/45/18 all round.
From the BMW recommended list I preferred 405M’s … Cotswold Cheltenham BMW quoted £2014.99 for wheel and tyre set with forum member discount. Pricey!
Managed to grab hold of a used set of 405M wheels with the BMW recommended Pirelli SottoZero 3 winter tyres. Paid a quarter of the dealer price. Good deal! Previous owner purchased the wheels directly from BMW main dealer. All tyres have more than 6mm tread and the wheels came off a F30 335d X-Drive. Purchased Heyner protective covers to keep them wrapped whilst in storage.
Will put to good use in European snow.

I had forgot to mention the tailgate glass was making a bit of a noise recently – it had got noticeably louder the last few days. I like how the issue developed two weeks after I cancelled the extended warranty

You may also be interested, CLC performance are taking pre orders for the F80 style shifters too for £90. Should be a nice OEM+ upgrade for us F3x owners.
The actual shifter or the paddle shifters? ETA: just checked, it's the paddles they've got a preorder going on:
