Mini R53 JCW GP #1571
Discussion
I’ve been a little distracted lately with my newly purchased 968, so the R53 hasn’t been doing too much. With the nice weather I thought it was a good day to give the car a bit of a run out to pick up my daughter from school and grab a coffee further down the coast
Nine years in now, the longest I’ve ever owned a car, and I still love it! There’s just something about the way these drive, they’re a bit naughty and really want you to push them on

Thinking of getting one as a daily myself. Getting on a bit now, anything major £'s wise to report?
TX.
You definitely should TX, if you don’t need the back seats then it should work great as a daily, especially as it’s got a handy boot for storage. I’d actually planned to do just that when I bought it, but then circumstances changed (kids/job/life ) which meant this one has only ever been a weekend carThinking of getting one as a daily myself. Other than routine servicing, and new brake lines put in a few years ago, it’s cost me hardly anything to maintain over the last while. It does like a drink, but other than that it’s a cheap enough thing to run (touch wood!)
I’ll counter that slightly in saying I spent quite a bit on it when I first bought it, as the first owner had really only gone in for routine servicing for the first 9 years of the car’s life. The details of what I did are all in the first part of this thread, and that initial spend has really stood to the car over the years
Therefore, if you’re going to look for one of these then make sure it’s had a good bit of spend on it over the years, which may or may not mean a higher mileage example. Mine was on 64k miles in 2015, which at the time would have been above average for a GP1, whereas now on 72k (I know! ) it’s lower than a good few that come to market

Cheers Moktabe, I really do. It especially makes so much sense for the winding coastal roads we have around here, although they’re probably going to get clogged up with campervans soon!
How are you? Still loving the AM?
That disappeared last October, almost 12000 miles in 18 months so had my fun with it. This is the new loon....How are you? Still loving the AM?
What a great weekend of weather here, and I managed to get a spare couple of hours to go for a spin down the coast to the little village of Crookhaven. Things all start making sense when you get a bit of time to spend with just you, your car and a fairly quiet coastal road
I’ll hopefully have my 968 back next week once a new part arrives for it, but for now I’m really enjoying spending time with the GP
