I’ll debadge the blue efficiency badges from the front wings whenever it stops raining.
Blue efficiency on a 350 is just plain dumb badging lol

Had a quick under bonnet check today, mainly as I've noticed the engine cover rattles and adds to the 'dieselness'.

Nothing is broken, it all clips in as expected but there's some serious rubbage going on. At least I hope it is, doesn't look like burning or mice ....

I don't know whether something isn't seated right but I need to figure it out.

I also noticed a tiny bit of oil/fuel in line with the injectors. I don't have any symptoms of injector issues hopefully it's old.

Another observation. 2 injectors seem to have the same part number, the other 2 have 2 separate part numbers. They all look the same. Newer parts maybe ? No record of changes.

It looks like the cover wasn't seated horizontally on to the rear mount - there is a prong that locates within the circular rubber bush. Because it wasn't seated the insulation has rubbed on the pipe clip.

The wet patch is spilt oil from a sloppy oil change. It isn't something to worry about.

It certainly looks that way, however it was seated as far as I can tell. Will certainly keep an eye on it, might look at options to stabilise the cover a bit more if it persists.

Applying pressure to the cover with my hand drastically reduces engine noise.

And yes now you've said it, particularly being that close to the filler neck it's obviously oil! Thanks.

Annual service done and dusted, a droplink replaced but otherwise came out unscathed.

However, the spare key has died - I'm trying to find a solution other than buying a new spare as they aren't cheap. Reaching out to a few auto locksmiths, the recommended specialist locally said they don't do it...

Just a little update.

It's been a bit neglected recently, a house move has kept me busy and many tip runs have ensued, so it was time for a clean up.

-Extremely lengthy, thorough hoover
-All plastics thoroughly cleaned
-Mats out and shoved in the washing machine
-Hired help in the form of a seat deep clean.

The seats are leather(ish...might be vinyl) and alcantara with red stitching. They are very sensitive to water marks and mine had quite a few from the previous owner and me.

Worse though, the basically unused back bench had formed a weird film on it. It almost looked like mould, but I don't think it was.

Time for the big guns, before:

After:

Worth every penny, second time I've used the company for.£40 you cannot go wrong.

With the interior sorted, but needing to try and left the engine running with the heaters on and got the sponges out for a much needed wash:

I also acquired a new aftermarket key which looks the real deal but the buttons are quite sensitive so it remains a spare. My original spare was very odd, the chap said the data on the key suggested it had 0 turns (ignition) I.e never used or worked but this can't be right as it was in used condition and I'm sure I used it.

It was transmitting but obviously broken, so couldn't be fixed.

I absolutely love the look of this car inside and out and the number of compliments I get is a bit weird. Loads of people ask me about it, which I find strange as to me it's an aging 2.1 diesel !

On that topic, I have started looking at what will replace it and it will be the BMW 40i engine in M140i or 340i or 440iGc flavour. Like many my mileage is reduced now so I want something with more poke and petrol.

Much better looking than the contemporary E-Class Coupe, but both your sets of wheels look like a refurb might be a plan!

Not sure I follow unless you haven't seen the whole thread, the wheels have been refurbished and powder coated black a year ago. I've dodged any damage well so they are 100% mint.

I do need to replace the wheel bolts and paint the calipers / hubs still though

Still love these, had a W204 220d saloon a few years ago - replaced it with a W205 220d, and while having more toys and looking a bit more updated, it never felt as special to me as the old one.

I had the AMG C220 Coupe edition - was first MB and it was brilliant car. the engine never felt under powered.
Took it on a 2 week tour of europe and had a blast.

Only replaced it as we needed a four door so replaced with a W204 C350, after the 350 engine I always wondered why they never put it in the coupe ?

I didn't realise it wasn't to be honest!

For a 2.1 TT diesel it's actually ok, it has good power delivery but what let's it down is the gearbox which on kickdown always over revs it out of the power band.

You'll go to floor it in say 4th with low torque and it will downshift to third, then second, put it to 4000rpm, scream until 5000 for an absolute age then shift to third. The time it loses doing all that slows it right down

A dashboard laden with errors led to a wheel speed sensor requiring replacement but otherwise yet more trouble free motoring.

I’ve done a fair few big trips recently with Snowdon being top of the charts. Had to do a lap and get a pit stop photo:

Afraid I can’t help there. I feel like I know BMWs really well but Mercedes still feels new to me, I think mainly as I haven’t really had any reason to research !

I've been tormenting myself over changing the car for a while, but have made the decision to stick with it for a while longer - It's such a lot of car for the money and I need to spend 10-20k on top to get a car I REALLY want....

So decided to upgrade the tech instead, I have opted for a 10" New generation Mercedes style Android tablet head unit. I have some experience with these from a previous car, even a cheap one in a cheap car was superb. I am excited to fit this one, it will add:

-Any android app (Netflix, Spotify, Waze, Google Maps, Audible etc)
-Apple Car Play (Wireless)
-Retains existing screen capability (This unit overrides the OEM signal so you can switch between them or show both)
-Retains existing DAB/Radio if you wish, this unit operates via the Auxiliary input (AMI port) so you can have the Google Maps on but your car radio playing the audio
-Combine with OBD2 Dongle and you can use it as a car dashboard/Fault diagnostic tool

I found a video on YouTube which sealed the deal on which unit to buy, went for the 8 Core 8GB RAM 1920*720 res option,

Think ill be setting a few hours aside for installation!

The wife and I have just placed a deposit on a 2013 C220d Coupe AMG Sport - ironically also with a factory-spec'd badge delete.

The dealership has the original bill of sale, plus all the standard and extra options that were specc'd by the first owner (took the bill to over £36k from new). If its as detailed as I recall it being when we looked thru it on the test drive I'll get it scanned and uploaded to your thread. Might be of use to some folks.

The AMG Sport spec seems to add quite a bit - and quite a bit MORE is available as an option for extra £££ lol
