Buying a shed to allow you the collection of another shed, bloody genius!
This is indeed genius. My favourite bit of shedding is the “journey home”. Will it make it? What strange noises will it make? What level of repair can be effected on the way home using supplies from a motorway service station? Or course, I double my changes of failure by playing in the “V6 Alfa for less than 500 quid” category.

Not only did you managed to achieve two of these journeys in one shed, but you also managed to get a trade in against the new shed.

We are very lucky in this country to have a ready supply of perfectly good vehicles available for buttons.

This thread is fantastic.

I currently have six sheds (all <£350) for a banger rally but I'd never get away with permashedding! I have them MOTd and taxed and I use them as pubcars and for embarrassing the kids. laugh

By my maths OP, you're in profit (at least certainly in the first post)! Top work.

I enjoy the fact that I can use most of my cars without giving too much of a fk about them, obviously I don't deliberately try to wreck them but things like car park dings don't concern me too much.

So much win.

Can I ask a stupid question? Alongside these (wonderful) sheds, do you have a "nice" car. You know, one you can just jump in and drive that looks vaguely presentable?

Most of my cars I can jump in and drive anywhere but I don't really have anything that the majority of people on here would consider "nice".
The newest vehicle I currently own is a tatty looking 2004 Ford Ranger. I have no requirement or desire to own shiny new cars.
I buy cars I like the look of, usually the squarer the better, if it's mechanically sound it doesn't matter if it isn't "nice" to look at in others eyes.
Most of my current collection is 80's and 90's generic ste.
I have never bought a car from a dealership and I think the most I'd ever paid for a car was £1800 for a Nissan Laurel in 2015.

Does your missus ever tell you to pack it in and buy something a bit more decent?

I love the concept of shedding, but it's very much "beauty in the eye of the beholder" kinda thing and not everyone appreciates it.

Our cars are decent in both of our eyes, as long as it's possible to jump in them and drive them anywhere I'm struggling to see how they could be a "bit more decent".
My Mrs actively encourages buying older cars, when we first met I had one car, a 1988 BMW e30 325 touring but soon enough I was buying a variety of old crap to run around in.

I'm not too bothered if other people dislike my cars or look down on them, you can't please everyone and there are going to be people out there who follow a certain brand of car and write everything else off as inferior.
If you get enjoyment out of whatever car you choose to drive then fk what anyone else thinks.

Personally, I feel that modern cars are awful. Huge and heavy, but without much room inside, terrible for observing when driving due to tiny windows and thick pillars, loads of crap in the way of the engine, no spare tyre, stupid touch screens etc. The list goes on. I actually think car design has gone backwards.

I'm shedding around in a 2004 focus petrol. Its modern by your standards, but I love the simple nature of it. I can park it and not worry about it and dont care if it gets scratched or receives a ding.

Not to everyone's taste, but I see where you are coming from. smile

Trouble is, since I bought it I've been looking at other older cars. I'm also attempting to learn spannering on it when I get time.

What a great bloke and a real perspective on life and you're lucky to have found a lady that shares your vision.
Did your parents have the same outlook on life or are you a one off ?

Trump you there funky.
Mine's a 2003 Focus 1.6 Zetec , had it since new ,never missed a beat.
It proudly bears several war wounds but for driving around town it's a pleasure , no worries about getting scratched etc. or where to park it.
I've had 3 Fords as a dd since I started driving and all have given me 15 years service.

Then that's awesome, keep going!

Really enjoyed this thread smile I picked up a £200 2005 Focus 1.6 and will keep it running as long as I can

Life is far too short to be spent worrying about trivial matters!
My Mrs comes from a large family who generally had minibuses like ldv convoys as their family cars over the years.
My dad works for the railway and always had company vans so never bothered buying a car for personal use.

I'd update the thread more frequently but I'm unable to post between 9pm to 9am where I get this annoying notification saying new members aren't allowed to post...
