Cheers James! Yeah it's a bit too low now, this is partly why the rears rub. I need to get a bit more negative camber dialed in as the 10mm spacers didn't resolve the issue.

Cheers! It was the cars last event this year, hopefully get to some more next year.

Does look like it has forward rake, it might just be an arch height thing.
The arch heights do play into it, but the rear shocks are very tired now. When the coilovers go on that should be all sorted, I hope!

New wheels look fab. LM’s are great looking wheels.

How’s it running at the moment?
Cheers Sam! It's still not 100%, I need to try and find some time to look at it, just busy as fk lately frown

I have finally found a spacer set that works. Thanks to Mark @ BM Autosport who kindly sent me a set of Bimecc 10mm spacers for the rear, after the other 10mm spacers I bought didn't fit on the hub properly. How the garage who fitted them didn't notice this beyond me. If you want a job doing right, do it yourself.

All I need to do now is to get the tracking / camber sorted on the passenger rear wheel as it still rubs slightly, but the driver's side doesn't rub at all!

Here is my 2007 M5 on LM reps

Loved that car. Gutted I sold it for a CL63...

It does look good. I think maybe the front (like mine) could do with more dish though ..

Went out for an end of year run to Caffeine and Machine, having not really been able to use the car since the end of November.

Weather was pretty rubbish on the way home, plus there is still some meeting of tyre and arch. Still need to sort the camber out.

Edit to correct the poor spelling of Weather...

That looks stunning tbh. Very much torn on whether this or the E34 is my favourite M5, but that's making a compelling case for the V10....
Cheers!

I'd like to try and E34. I was very tempted by one in 2008/9 that was up for sale for £4k, 3.6, 100k miles. Many regrets.

I wasn’t far from C&M this weekend; the weather was indeed horrible.

Your car is sitting so well on the new wheels.
Yeah on the way back was a bit sketchy.

Cheers, I need to raise it when I fit my coilovers.

Dyno day tomorrow. Interested to see what it makes but also check the fueling is right and see if we can see what's happening when I change gear under acceleration, as there is an issue with the car holding back.

The headlights are also pretty much pointing to the ground. I have adjust them but I have a feeling they may be too high, so I'll be having another look tonight.

Here's a picture I took on a recent visit to Caffeine and Machine at The Bowl.

Well, today didn't quite go to plan.

611.9 bhp was the result.

You can see it starting to lean out around 6200rpm. It's pulling the timing and the power just goes flat.

What do I think it is? Probably fuel pumps, but could be injectors or map.

Were the injectors not changed with the conversion?

I only ask as a lad on YouTube Chrisslix has just supercharged an M3 and he changed the injectors.

If you have then it's surely got be the pump?

How ever old it is plus now your asking for more out of it.

Did the rolling road have any input on what it could be??
Yes they were, but, they were unobtainable and then suddenly they were, so I'm just a bit unsure about them I guess.

Pumps are 4 and a half years old. I'm going to replace them with upgraded ones anyway.

We all thought it could be pump, injectors or map. Could be the pressure reg.

What were you hoping for it to make?

That’s still a decent increase over the stock power though.

If you change the injectors, when ones will you fit?
Tbf, I was hoping for 650bhp, but expecting less given it's not running right.

Re the injectors, whichever ones will work.

Having contacted the company who supply the kit, we feel it's a pump issue. The E6x M5/6 have 2 pumps. 1 runs at variable speed until 5500rpm and then the 2nd pump kicks in with full speed and pressure, so both pumps are then running.

There is a test in BMW diag tool ISTA that can test the fuel pumps to see if they can provide the 6bar required over 5500rpm. I suspect the 2nd pump on my car isn't able to keep up with demand and this test will fail.

If the test passes, then I can take the car out and load it up to 8000rpm while a passenger keeps an eye on the pressure reading from ISTA.

What was the car making when the kit was fitted and set up? Is it down much? Read quite a lot of this thread but can’t see any dyno graphs from when it was first done.
This is the first time it's been on a Dyno.

Two pumps to help drain the fuel tank a bit faster! laugh

On a more serious note, I hope you get it sorted and running right soon.
These cars don't do anything by half.

Cheers.

I still vicariously live my E60 M5 life through you AD. Thanks for sharing and good luck with getting it where you want it to be. Must be frustrating to have this happen but so close to being great - look forward to that good moment of having it sorted soon.
Cheers! Yes it is frustrating, but I have come to expect nothing less from the car now.

It is for these sorts of reasons I think I'm going to keep my car standard, seems like a headache, although I love to see your commitment!
I think I'm just unlucky truth be told. My commitment feels like it's wearing!

I feel (some of) your pain, and remain grateful you've shared the process with us. You have made a really cool, interesting thing, and I hope the setbacks don't take the shine off too much.

Tuning is, has, and always will be a "pay to play" type of activity, and the harder you push things the more the pay/play balance shifts to the former. Bl88dy cars rofl
Ha, at the moment the shine is definitely more matte than gloss, a few things have happened recently that are affecting my joy around the ownership of the car (people related rather than the car itself).

Last night I ordered a new set of fuel pumps and filter as there was an offer on. If I don't need them then they'll sell. If I do need them then I've got a bargain. I'm hoping to do the fuel pump pressure test either tonight or at the weekend, but now that the car is SORN'd it won't get up to temperature as quick for the fuel pump test.

All good on the Western front currently.

I taxed the car on Friday and did a bit of local pottering around. I have missed how good it sounds, and I only parked it up for 6 weeks!

While out I seemed to attract the attention of a Tesco delivery driver (other shops and drivers are available) who wanted to hear some of the V10, so I duly delivered.

The V10 is king.

I am getting the fuel pumps changed on Sunday so that should hopefully resolve the low fuel pressure issue above 5500rpm.

I had some pics taken of the car at Caffeine and Machine (The Bowl) in January. The car just looks so good in them.

I had 2 back in the day, a silver one like yours and then a black one. I bought my first one after seeing the Clarkson review smile

After all of the angst about the design at the time I think it has aged really well, it looks great and on balance I think the silver looks better than black.
My favourite colour is still Interlagos Blue I think, it photo's well. Silverstone looks good in the metal. They have definitely aged well. A car of their time, but the modern BMWs just cannot ever be called great.

I'd still like to colour change it, but that's a lot of money, and I'd rather save that money in the hope that Evolve complete the work they're doing with DCT managed by the E60 TCU as that will be a game changer.

That and extra power once I have found the missing horses, hopefully this weekend!
