I know that you like interesting mileage readings, so here's one from me. Leaving Tesco this morning I checked to see if we needed any petrol, mileage since last refill 111.1 miles, mileage until running out 111 miles, and it wasn't planned just pure coincidence. smile

Yesterday I noticed what sounded like the brake pad on the n/s/f rubbing when the car was cold, however after a short distance it seemed to stop, any ideas as to what could cause it?

Thanks, I'd just never noticed it before.

Your car normally never sits long enough for the engine to get cold, never mind long enough for surface rust to form, that's why!

It appears to be the n/s/r brake caliper sticking a bit, I've ordered some brake cleaner to see if that helps

That's the one that used to stick on mine, the handbrake cable had frayed and held the handbrake on - I was surprised just how much extra fuel it used, about 100 miles per tank.

A cable at eye watering price fixed it.

Merry Christmas!!

Thank you Peanut Gallery, it had a new n/s/r caliper about 18 months ago when the back brakes were changed so I'm hoping it just needs a clean up.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, did Santa bring lots of nice gifts for small PG?

Fingers crossed it is just a cleanup!

Thank you, yip, santa has been brilliant for them, she's still running around on a chocolate high, no nap all day, and still more to open tomorrow. I am concerned about pink glitter getting everywhere though...

Glad you have all had a good day, we were at MILs for Christmas dinner. Is the S Max running well?

I've spent the morning taking the wheel off and giving the caliper a good spray of brake cleaner, let's see if that does any good.

Well my attempt at cleaning the caliper has made no difference so further investigation is needed.

In other news earlier my stepdaughter was begging not to have a black box once she has passed her test, she was shall we say rather upset that she might not have a choice over it laugh

Just a thought, they aren't cheap pads that are in the caliper are they? I put Eurocarparts cheapies in the rear of the older Focus and they squeak quite often!!!
