Sytner may well be on the slow path to redemption….

They’ve actually contacted me twice this morning without being prompted! Once by a service manager just to clarify the process / potential risk for me in the event the claim is rejected and again by the advisor who I have been dealing with to arrange a date etc.

The car is booked on for first thing next Wednesday and I’m being given a 5 series touring of sone sort (unless it gets nabbed). They’ve booked me into that for a week to allow tome for the strip, sending off pics and hopefully getting approval, ordering parts and fixing the damn thing. Fingers crossed.
Persistence is a virtue. Once they know you're not going away, they realise that capitulation is just easier laugh

Good luck!

I just want it sorted now so I can decide it I’m going to stick of twist.

Did they provide any updates yesterday?

And how has the 5 series been?

Hmmmmmm

The car didn’t go in. The 5 series I was getting has been sold and as they have a shortage of courtesy cars due to overrunning repairs and cars being sold I had to wait if I needed a car (which I do for the school run etc). I’ve been promised 100% that they have a car for me on Monday.

All in all, it continues to be a shower of st and I’m just waiting on for the claim to be rejected to top it offf

That is a sickener Sam for sure. I was hoping that it was all going to move forward a bit more smoothly for you.

Indeed, it’s bloody annoying. More so because the delay getting to this point means that I’ll probably miss out on a coupe of cars that I’ve been eyeing up as a replacement. banghead

Really sorry my Land-Rover blew its fuses again, so you couldn’t have the Golf for a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it all goes well from Monday…..

No worries; does it use more fuses than fuel now?

Sounds like you’ve decided to move it on then! A short lived experiment with the N54, shame as it’s otherwise a lovely car but I appreciate how such an experience can sour things.

We’ll have to see….I’m pretty grumpy with it at the moment but let of me does still quite like it (when it’s working). If I can make the figures work, I’d be tempted by something with more cylinders but we’ll see.

Been following this since the start but have yet to comment. I'd been hoping it was the VANOS solenoids or oil cap but alas... Keeping my fingers and toes crossed you can get it in on Monday and all goes smoothly Sam... you'd better bloody get a decent courtesy car too!

I'd certainly lean towards saying you should keep it and not be looking at replacements- it's a stunning car and you've put a lot of work into it so you should enjoy it for a good while yet, but I can understand how what you've been going through can sour the whole experience.

It’s been a bit of a pain in the arse, but I guess that’s more to do with the dealer than the car itself. I was hoping it wouldn’t be the cam ledges, but that wasn’t to be. If it’d been sorted by now, I think I’d have shrugged my shoulders and moved on.

I have a few things saved and I went to see something else last week. My one fear is that the stuff I’m looking at is pretty much at the bottom of the market for the cars I’m looking at which makes me a bit nervous especially given my has had new springs, dampers, arms, recent tyres etc. I won’t rush into anything that’s for sure and if I can’t change to something else, I’ll keep it for another year or so.

Gave the car a clean this afternoon and a going over with some Alien Magic QD.

I definitely don’t want BMW’s wash and scratch service anywhere near it. I always ask for it not to be washed but taking in a clean car hopefully stops anyone ignoring that request!

I’m still very much on the fence about what to do with it; I’m coming back round to the idea of keeping it but I’m still drawn to the idea of a V8. The car I went to see last week is still available so that’s definitely playing on my mind too!

M3 V8? Probably less financial risk than a n54.

That would be my first port of call but prices are very strong at the moment and I’d be very much at the bottom of the market. There is an E92 that looks good for the cash (rod bearings and actuators both done).

The car that I’ve actually seen and like is a bit left field; an IS-F.

Thanks. I use a blower to get the worst of the water out of nooks and crannies. It’s not frozen here yet tonight, so hopefully it won’t be as bad as last night.
