Really interesting thread about the car. I adore “breadvan” style cars and it really doesn’t come much better than the FF. Definitely on the bucket list!

Sorry to hear about all the challenges subsequently and I can resonate with both sides of your stance.

1. Fight it out to the bitter end

2. Draw a line under it all and be proud of being honest and open about the challenges you’ve had the the awareness you’ve raised.

Hindsight is a great thing and we are all different, but (for me a least)….seeing and having that Ferrari report would have been a non-negotiable before signing on the dotted line, however convincing the individual was. All that said, I’ve learnt from doing the opposite in the past.

You’ve got an amazing new car, let’s hear some more about that!

I will be making sure I get a 3rd party inspection of my next car. Especially at these levels where repair costs are huge.

It has been said many times before but its only the big shiny main dealers / corporate owners where you have a chance of getting remedial work done or being able to shout at someone.

I remember watching an archie hamilton video of taking his huracan in for repairs under warranty at lamborghini and the mechanic showing him a few things wrong and that was only a 3 year old car. The mechanic had suggested, I would not own the car outside of franchise warrenty!

One must assume the worst especially over 3 yrs old and 10k miles.
This stuff goes on all the time I'm quite sure, pass the parcel where the specialist dealer realises its got repairs beyond their profit and punts it out the door

It is and they have asked. I have an email from my finance company saying TDWSNBN isn’t interested in sharing it. I already posted the report showing the car was sold in that condition on certain items. It’s the sheer arrogance of the dealer that is driving me on here. If they wanted to make things right they have had lots of chance to. Instead they’d rather make threats and then send a legal letter over than actually addressing the problems.

They deserve all the negative publicity and more
Having read this thread I cant agree more with you on this.

There’s nothing worse than a dealer that treats customers past, present or future is the way you have been treated. Any reputable dealer would have fixed it apologised and moved on. Clearly Pond Jr and Sr are so used to getting their way. Comes as a shock when someone doesn’t roll over.

It’s only going to happen to someone else in the future and if your stopping even one person falling into the same trap good on you mate.

Holding onto your deposit is a particularly poor thing to be doing just to earn that tiny amount of interest while in sits in his account.

Ive had two run inn’s with less than stellar dealers in the last 12 months one of them ironically on an ex Press DBS in Cheshire where I was told. Even if I get it inspected at an Aston specialist it got a fresh mot and has just been serviced so thats that. (It wasn’t advertised as ex-press I worked it out by looking at the old plates) also the CCB’s were scored. the next day after looking at the car I was pressured into making a decision as another buyer was ready to buy immediately(it was up for sale for some time after i got my deposit back)

My point is before I went to view it my guard was up because of this http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=128634
Thank god i did my research and if any one is looking to buy a car that floats on a pond then hopefully they see this and look elsewhere.

So long as it doesn’t cost you much to spread the word you get my vote to keep going.

Last thing sorry for the essay when looking at dealers google the name scroll to the bottom of the page and you might see this.

Dead giveaway there’s something to hide. You can guess what’s at the bottom of the screen when you google a certain name,
I bought a 996 C4S from said Cheshire garage in the past. It was up for £15995 if I recall correctly so it was a few years ago. Didn’t have any problems with it and my part exchange was valued fairly too.

The owner however did come across as a bit of a slippery wide boy. I know I shouldn’t draw inferences from how people look but he was dressed like what can only be called as a bit of a spiv.

Having said that, some of the posters on 911 U.K. can be absolute idiots. The poster called Cheshire 911 truly believes that he has the best 996 Turbo in the universe and absolutely trashed any new car to come on the forum. They are also very cliquey and have their own favoured independent specialists.

Great thread and keep up the fight against these odious individuals. I bought a 570s from a respected Indie two years ago the car was immaculately presented etc. I didn't bother with a third party inspection...key reason being it was still under the manufacturers warranty so I figured if any problems were to arise then I wouldn't have much to worry about given how comprehensive those Mclaren warranties were. Car had some issues under that particular warranty that were all sorted I've kept the warranty going since and overall its been a good decision to! Obviously without the warranty a third party inspection would have made sense...great car tho hope the OP is enjoying his!

Dealers not revealing a car’s hard-working former life seems to be a recurring theme - perhaps ex-press cars should be avoided?

Funny how dealers always say there’s another buyer who’s waiting in the wings rolleyes

How did you find the Rapide? I'm looking at them, FFs and Panameras. Really can't decide.
It was lovely and turned a lot of heads but it was a bit slow and boring to drive (slow relative to the two C63s I'd had most recently before it). I swapped it for a Cayenne Turbo when a little one came along because I needed more space for all the crap a baby travels around with. Despite being about 5m long, there isn't any space in the car. No space whatsoever! You can't even fit a CD box in the glovebox (and my 2011 car didn't have CarPlay or anything fancy like that). I didn't really gel with the Cayenne either so I recently switched that for an AMG E63S and I absolutely love it. I considered a Panamera Turbo and an RS6 but the E63S was the one that blew me away.

Happy to answer any more questions on the Rapide if you are seriously considering one. Probably best to PM me so as not to dilute the quality of this thread smile

I’m going to go against the grain here and suggest that George just leaves this now.

Whilst everyone from the side lines is always eager to egg on such things, the reality is that no good will come of it - you’ve made a fantastic point against these people already and many of us can use your bitter experience to help us decide who to buy cars from.

It just isn’t worth letting it consume you - proving a point can use up an awful lot of energy that, applied elsewhere, can bring joy to you and your loved ones who, in the end, are the only ones who matter.

Wish you much luck.
Kind of tend to agree with this. Admire your tenacity George and it does sound as if you have been through the mill. For me, I'd let the legal process take its course now as I'd hate for you to dilute your case by inadvertently typing the wrong thing (law has a funny way of interpretation even if you are only stating true facts). You, and clearly many other people have made their points. Post when you've won and they need to make a public apology.

Best of luck.

True and to be honest I really wanted the car and I so desperately wanted it to be right. But there were just too many red flags. Not letting me get the car inspected also as soon as I turned up he started the car and started reviving the car immediately. I generally felt like he looked down on me as I turned up in an old 4Runner i used for towing the horses.
It had a happy ending anyway as I ended up getting a 612 Scaglietti and couldn’t be happier !

Also for someone who been in the industry for 20 plus years its incredible that there are so few review’s apart from 5 star ones ! Even if the 911 guy is a throbber it got me digging.

I seriously hope that is TDWSNBN, if so, he's rattled. Good.
Wasn't that clip from 2018 though? Not so rattled if he's still doing the same thing 4 years down the line.

Why can you not approach Ferrari for a copy of the PDI report?
As stated earlier, sadly not down to GDPR. Look on page 28, I’ve shared a handful of the emails to the dealer, all with the dates shown. I didn’t receive a single reply to any of them.

Seems the Ferrari dealer takes GDPR a lot more seriously than TDWSNBN’s son
Just on that.

AFAIK, for a car to be given a Power Warranty, it has to be brought up to a required standard before Ferrari will issue the warranty.

Given the car was serviced and inspected prior to purchase and then the agreed Power Warranty was downgraded to the Warranty Wise, one could begin to join a few dots there....

Given JayEmm's righteous indignation at the McLaren dealer's behaviours, and he's already inserted himself into the narrative of this car, surely he must be chomping at the bit to do a bit on this?

As I understand it, the OP managed to get a Power warranty but it was only one year not two?

Exactly, it seems to be a recurring element of Pond Life’s MO, which also includes:

1. Present car festooned with generous servings of ambiguity and economy with the truth.
2. Address potential customer’s queries via phone(s), not in writing.
3. If customer realises failings of 1., attempt to bamboozle with BS and indignation.
4. If 3. fails, insult customer and hope he/she retreats.
5. If 4. fails, threaten customer with home visit.
6. If 5. fails, send in the shyster lawyers.
7. Because of 6., yet another disgruntled customer will back down; so now relax, light another penis-substitute cigar, pay cretinous offspring’s latest fine, return to 1. for next sale.

Props to the OP for wanting to make more people aware of Pond Life’s tactics.

when i was looking for the DBS there were two identical cars for sale one at an Aston dealership and the other at an independent both similar price , I enquired at both and researched common faults , had some excellent advise from Mike Bamford / The car at the dealership came with the full Aston warranty with world wide recovery. The independent was offering an Audi warranty !!!

when i enquired about the condition of the CCB-s at the independent..........there was a pause ...er the what !! car was SOR , I went with the dealership and i had excellent service . from buying to servicing , only issue was the rear lights had water ingress , these were replaced under warranty would certainly recommend the dealership cheers

Doesn’t come up for my name or for an Indy i’ve recently used. Pond man and the dealer in Cheshire I get that at the bottom of the page.
