so are you going with carbs or will the work with FI?
I have a Holley 750 going on for now, may upgrade to EFI in the future but not within budget now, the fuel pumps will be fine for EFI too will just have to add a swirl pot and third high pressure pump.

Hmmmmmm induction envy....

Sadly just can't justify it yet! I decided the alloy uprights was the place to be frivolous as they would be an absolute sod to upgrade to later, and imo a much more fundamental part of the car. The added investment of an eight stack now would prob set me back another year at least, and it's already been far to long without something fun to drive....

Hoonigan, did you see Thursday nights channel 5 classic car programme? Jodie Kidd drove GT40 replica (Gulf colours) in Reims. Not much about the car but it looked stunning. Worth a look if you missed it.
Great, thanks for the tip, I actually had it on the Sky box but not realised it had any thing about GT40’s.
As you say not much about the car but all motivational for me, definitely going to have to take a drive through there one day...

Bit of a result today, collected one and a half hides, approx 3m x 2.5m in total of Rolls Royce's finest "Rose Leaf" leather, hopefully will be enough to re trim the seats and also the dash, I'm only 98% on the colour at the moment, as although everyone that sees it says it's dark grey it does in certain lights have a green hue, I think I need to lay them out in the sun to be sure but really hope to use them as they only cost me £30.00 woohoo

hehe Wonder if you know the same trim shop chaps I do...

I used to have a lovely leather RR mousemat from when I was involved in supplying the benches dotted around the factory grounds.

Will you be trimming yourself?
Haha entirely possible wink I too have a mouse mat on my desk but that was from doing some work for one of their contractors.
Def not trimming it myself, it need to look half good! yet to find a trimmer but I'm sure other owners will be able to recommend one when I need it.

I know a RR Trimmer, who does certain bits on the side at home, she is amazing if you need a recommendation
That would be fantastic thank you, I'm guessing she will be fairly local to me in Chchester too?

I just bought a bottle of 96% H2SO4 from eBay, constant current PSU from CPC and a bottle of dye also from eBay, the rest of the bits I had kicking around, just use aluminium wire or off cuts as hooks/holders.
The PSU is the most expensive bit and despite what you may read a constant current supply with a decent output is required to get a good finish, mine is 30v 3A. Oh and nearly forgot you need pure water, none of this out of the tap crap, Easy one for me as I have a RO-DI unit permenantly plumbed in for my fish tanks and beer making but you can buy it from aquatic shops or Halfrauds.

Well finally I have made a little progress, picked up this lot earlier in the week from SouthernGT, very pleased to say the least, fantastic quality and don't look too shabby either...
Still waiting on the hubs to finish being machined but great to get back to bolting bits on. I also picked up the steering arms but they did not quite fit as the uprights are JWE with Johns hubs which are just slightly different to Mick's but true to form 20 mins on the milling machine later Mick had them fitting spot on, once the hubs arrive I'll get them and the arms blackened before final fit, happy days...

Thanks thumbup

Ryan, I don't have too many details for JWE but I do have a phone number if that's any use to you? For what it's worth though SouthernGT are cheaper, even though they are using JWE castings!..

Dave, the photo was taken after inital loose assembly and are correct now so panic ye not wink

Hey chap, looking really good - I'd love to come over at some point and have a close up (I'm only in Selsey, and almost house trained!).

Quick Q - what was the approx cost of the Quantum dampers? Just bought an MX5 and there's a fella selling one with lots of handling tweaks, including some adjustable Quantums, but he's claiming some very strong money for them... wink
They're not cheap... list price for mine was about 2k but I dot a bit of a deal wink

you are more than welcome to pop over, i'm always happy to talk cars and would love a look at Libra too, seen you about in it a few times driving

To be honest not a lot has happened over the last 8 months, new job and generally life getting in the way, but that's not to say I've done nothing....

Rear suspension is finally fitted for the last time, though I do need to anodise a few spacers but I'll do those nearer the end, also got a few engine bits turning up this week and have just started to port the heads which will keep me busy for a good few evenings.

Oh and got a new garage essential, may be part of the reason I've not got much done drinkhehe

just wondering if any more progress, been following this build closely

am off to SGT in a few weeks to have a closer look at their cars

i notice the pedal box looks very tight with the panelling, can you heel and toe in there?!
Sorry only just noticed your post, not a lot more progress, have ordered the flywheel and pulleys just need to get the clutch cover plate then get the engine balanced and assembled, it can then be fitted with the gearbox.

I promise you you won't go far wrong with SouthernGT they are a great company with great products

Hi Neil,

Slowgress is being made.... I've actually pulled my finger out a bit and the plan is to be on the road ready for the Le Man Classic next year, so all being well engine and box in by the end of the month and on the ground by the end of April subject to AP Racing finally making the brakes that have been in back order for months, then ready for the body which is due in the summer. Do pop over some time and have a look, I need all the motivation I can get....

No idea, they're not one I recognise and I've spent so many hours looking at mirrors trying to make my mind up what to fit... Don't forget they need to be adjustable from inside the car, so either electric or reachable.

Are you going to Stoneleigh this w/e?
Having seen what Dan has submitted for IVA and that didn't raise concern with the tester I'm not sure it's too much of an issue...

These look perfect for me.

Not doing stonleigh sadly, too bloody far away to warrant a pink slip approval frown

Sorry, when I say "them" I meant the drivers.
That's easy enough, still can't find these mirrors though...
