Cheers! How is the XJ12 going? What model of M3 did you get?

XJ12 gave way for the E36 :/

A truly sad day.

At least you can say you've owned a V12 smile

I do like the E36 M3s.

it's a lovely car, and much different to the Jaguar.
at the end of the day, i have a list of at least 25 must-own cars i've to work my way through, so short of winning the lottery, they each have their turn, then give way to the replacement.

A good plan! I have a list too, but end up getting too attached to the cars and keeping them for too long.

Lovely looking XJR, the wheels really suit it. I recently picked up a 1998 X308, will be starting my own thread in here soon where I detail my woes of attempting to run it on a shoestring. Alas mine doesn't have the bbs wheels, will have to save up and find a second hand set.

Cheers! PM me with any questions you have.

The wheels are called BBS Milanos - sometimes listed as BBS Milans on ebay. The prices vary wildly, sometimes they can be really cheap, but the 255 / 40 / 18 tyres are expensive.

I can get tyres at very competitive prices. Especially if you're on PH!

Haha. Apologies. Consider me next time, perhaps.

The car continues to be fantastic.

Bit of a judder under braking so I had it looked at and it needs new front sub frame mounts. I'm also going to purchase one of the suspension refresh kits and get that fitted at the same time.

http://britishparts.co.uk/products/5035-xjr-suspen...

There is also a slight bit of rust coming through on the front wings and rear arches. So, once the suspension is done I'm going to get new front wings and new rear arches.

Should be about £3k all in, but I think it's worth it as, touch wood, the car should now be great for a number of years (I got the tensioners and transmission fluid changed last year),

Oh, and I treated it to an under bonnet tool kit smile

The tool kit completes the engine bay, it's a nice touch. Could I be a pain and ask what size bulbs are in the set? My car came with the tools but is missing a few of the bulbs. My engine bay needs a damn good clean to get it looking anywhere near as nice as yours!

Will you be going for brand new front arches? My offside arch needs replacing and it seems nigh on impossible to find one in good condition and in the right colour so I may have to buy a new one and pay for the paint costs.

Cheers!

I will check the bulbs next time I am back with the car.

I have decided to bite the bullet with the front wings and get new ones. They are around £450 each and need painted after that, but I want to keep the car for a good few years.

The rear arch kit is a lot cheaper, but needs the old arches to be cut out and the new ones welded in. The front wings just bolt on.

Great run up the coast today, a marvellous drive and a great machine. First time I have driven it for 4 weeks.

It's going in for the suspension refresh at the end of the month and I'll report back.

I'll check the bulbs in the tool kit tonight smile

Lovely cars, I still miss mine when I see one sometimes. A very nice dark green 02 reg passed me today. Yours had better be a keeper with the cash you're lavishing on it! smile

Dropped it off at the garage today for a service, MOT, and I'm getting the following front suspension bits changed, will hopefully freshen it up:

- Top and bottom front ball joints;

- Anti Roll Bar links;

- Anti Roll Bar Mount bushings;

- Upper and lower wishbone bushings;

- Lower shock bushings;

- Subframe bushes; and

- Vee mounts.

Was great driving it again this morning, they are great cars.

Cracking looking car op. what's not to love about a supercharged armchair!

An aspiration of mine is to say to someone, when talking about my car, "yes, it is the supercharged one"

Congratulations.
It's going from strength to strength!
You've spent a small fortune on it; well done for doing so.
It'd be interesting to compare your average example with yours, once all this work is completed.
