Jokes aside you really need a reliable car.. maybe a Honda Type R with leathers?

I haven't had much luck the best car I've had so far has been the Juke probably, it was so comfortable and was very good on fuel, it only had the 1.5 Diesel engine but it went well enough too, I'd probably still have it if it wasn't written off!

I'd love a Type R but I really really hate where the gear stick is located and DC2 Integras (one of my favourite cars) are too far out of budget for me

We might as well make a list of hot hatches, they seem to suit you.

Actually i almost hate vag products because they usually are just like this car is, ie money pit. Makes me angry to read something like this where chap will loose a lot of money for nothing.

I did own Alfa Romeo MiTo 155 tjet. Beautiful car with reliable engine and reasonable running costs. Gearbox can go pop but mine was running strong. It is as fast as a3 2.0 tsi but better mpg and much more fun. I can recommend it. Suspension is stiff.

Personally i would pick Lexus IS250. Great engine, chassis and reasonable running costs. Goes like your audi but is more comfier and has better build quality.

Out of all of those at the moment I wouldn't mind an ST, MK5 GTi or an older Polo GTi I'm too fussy

Never been too keen on any Lexus at all really, I'm sure they are nice cars but I don't think I could have one.

I never went to get the Corsa as it seems to have developed some sort of electrical problem so I have a hire car which I absolutely love. It's a 66 plate Ford Fiesta ST Line 125 and I'm in love with it! The 1.0 turbo engine is amazing and it handles so very well. I had a lot of fun thrashing it down the back roads from Buckingham to home today and it returned over 40 mpg!

I'm really really tempted to get a Black Edition Fiesta now with the 140 engine on a lease deal, I wouldn't have to worry about reliability and with a few small mods they can go up to 170hp..

Totally agree, I think I read someone on here say that Audis have a thin vaneer of quality but all the bits you can't touch are rubbish. Most people feel the soft touch of the dash and the satisfying door clunk and assume they are a quality product.

My last car was a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T convertible and it was just problem after problem to the point where I was so sick of it I stuck it on eBay as spares or repair. Take it from me, once the problems start you are best getting rid as it will just be headache after headache.

My dad has a 117K 2005 Civic Type S bought off eBay for £650 and although the interior is nowhere near as nice it feels like it will go on forever.

I would personally rather own a Hyundai or Kia than another VAG product.

I have a 2001 CR-V (a Westone, no less!) which I bought from an old boy a year or so back who bought it ex-demo.
It'd done 125k miles, that'll be 140k in a month and it drives amazing. I have absolute confidence in it getting my anywhere i'd like it to.
My Allroad 2.7T however, that was 8 months of night mares...!

I like the Honda so much i've even done a cam belt, water pump, all 3 auxiliary belts, new coolant and PSF and engine oil and filter.
It only got an oil and filter about 8k miles ago, but i thought i'd treat it to another

I would be starting to look at any angle I could to get my money back, had the car since Nov and only driven it for a week from what I read? Its now 2nd week in jan!

Fiesta with the 140bhp 1.0 is a good choice, the team i work in has 2 on lease.
Keep in mind with the 1.0, the engine has to come out to do the cambelt, as its inside the cases like on a bike.

Have you considered a 147 JTD 150? For less than Audi money you could end up with a late one with the q2 diff. Lovely leather interior, proven and punchy derv engine and The Bose stereo is decent. Seems to be a couple of 1 owner cared for examples out there. They are very underrated imo but might be too old for you if you want summat newer?

Nope! Getting it recovered to Essex tomorrow then as soon as it's fixed it's being sold, I don't even want to drive it.

I'm pretty settled on getting a lease deal on a new ST Line Fiesta with the 140 engine and a few extras because I'm absolutely loving this hire car I have at the moment and it's only the 125, I'll try get a picture up but I'm stuck on my phone.

It was indeed, the seller paid for the new engine to go in but now I'm about to pay for this issue to get fixed. I just want it fixed and gone really. I've only driven it about 200 miles when it was fixed but near on 1000 when it was broken and st to drive.

Good to know but I will hopefully be getting a new one on a 2 year deal so hopefully I don't have to worry about that!

It's a shame that your reliance on garages with very poor diagnostic/fault finding skills (wasn't an Audi dealership was it? ) has ended up with you having a poor experience with the A3.

If it's low fuel pressure indicated, one of the main checks is to SEE if the fuel pressure is low by getting a gauge on it. If it is go backwards to the delivery side of the fuel system (pump/filter etc) if pressure is good a check of the fuel pressure sensor would be next check. How all 4 injectors can somehow work together to give you low fuel pressure is beyond me!

I reckon a few hours with someone who knows what they are doing and the car would be fine.

I bought an IS 250 before Christmas, and it's fab.

I don't think the engine is a high point - with 1700kg or whatever to lug it's not a fast car - but it is very quiet, very comfortable, quick enough (0-60 in tad under 8 seconds), handles well, looks nice, lots of toys and great value for money. I'm also hopeful that it'll be reliable. We shall see. It's more fun than an A3 IMO, much better turn in and no understeer, and I also think the Mark Levinson stereo is better.

I also had all sorts of hot hatches on the list beforehand, but having spent thousands running an R53 Cooper S I got tired of so-called premium brands, unreliability and stupid parts prices and fancied something different.
