Absolutely stunning. The E39 is such a good looking, classic design. I'd love one...

Beautiful car you have, I had an E39 14 yrs ago, still the best car I've ever had and driven. Wished I still had one now and think I'm going to be looking!

Thank you both!

Recently, my E39 Champagne Edition II met my friend's E39 Champagne Edition II.
Mine is H, my friend's is N.

That's pretty cool, you need to organise another photo shoot with a better environment and a good camera.

Hi all, a small update.

Whilst I had the headlights restored when I had the car detailed last year, I thought it was time to get them done again since it's been almost one year and they started looking a little poor again.

Here is the before and after (sorry, I did not take any before photos of the right side headlight).
Very pleased with the results.

Did you do that yourself? I asked a professional company named ROC to do mine and the key is in the protection, which they guarantee for five years (I note that this is now advertised as three years on the website). The application of the spray lacquer (vid) is layered then dried in between each layer. It's been about thirty months or so since it was done and it's still looking clear (WARNING: MERCEDES CONTENT).

Hi Michael, no I did not do it myself; I asked my detailer to do it for me (I do not have the skill or patience to do it!). He did apply a coating on it once finished.

Thanks for the suggestion. It does sound worthwhile going down that route, it's just a shame that ROC are based in London (I am in Leicestershire). But certainly something for me to look into nevertheless so thanks.

Thanks!

There are companies like EM Tuning who can do pretty major refreshes on headlights too (although I don’t think it’s cheap). They’ll replace tired projectors etc.

They’re not a million miles away from you OP.

The coatings wash off and tend to last a year, some UV stable lacquer is what is required to do the job right really.

There's a lad on the BMW 5 forums that Mani is on that refurbs and upgrades the Hella headlights on the E39s too

Darren, St Helen's based; but you can send him your lights via the post etc

He does superb work and the upgraded/modded headlights with much better projectors are absolutely superb.

I was going to get him to do mine on my previous touring; but then it sold laugh

Thanks! Definitely one for me to save and look into for a more permanent fix. Thanks!

Thanks. My detailer applied a different type of coating on this time round but as mentioned by others, I think it may be time to look at a different solution when it starts to look a little worse again.

My Midlands geography isn't great so apologies if Sutton Coldfield isnt too close. rolleyes

But if it's any use there is a Z4 owner, Byron, who runs this firm:- https://www.topwrapz.com/

After getting his headlights clean he applied some clear PPF to keep them that way.

Watched a video by YouTuber Samcrac telling everyone the prices of e39 manuals in the USA are going crazy…looked on eBay as you do while the kettle boiled and there’s 2 e39 530i sports on there with the desirable manual cog swapper .
Ones 230k miles and been cherished..the others just over 80k and got whiskey dents but it’s a manual e39 530i sport and it’s the price of my M5 I sold a few weeks ago Goodyear tyres hmmmmm

15 mins before it ends and the 80k miler is on the price of the M5’s tyres and brakes so I whack a bid in ten seconds before it ends and boooom I got a manual 530i Sport e39 .
Love a old manual Bmw

Over the last few weeks, I have been organising a small meeting with the owners of a number of Champagne Edition II's.  Anyway, with the fantastic support of my local BMW centre who allowed us to present our cars under their canopy for this event, 4 of us met up and so here are a couple of photos of our 4 Champagne Edition II's together!

It was a great morning with staff and customers asking lots of questions and taking photos.

Thanks! I will add that to my bookmark as Sutton Coldfield is not too far. Thanks!

Nice, just read this thread. Do you still use it daily? How did you know the other owners?

Thanks! Yes I use it as my daily.
Other than 1 owner who found me, I found the other two by research. I actually have a register of about 20 of them (reg, status, build date, etc.) though do not know the owners details.
