Just bought Dad a flight experience in a Harvard at Goodwood as part of his 65th Birthday present, so have planned a nice drive out on Saturday afternoon to go and collect the pack from the Goodwood ticket office (his birthday is on Monday)...

Looking forward to getting it out on some good roads.

Here in oz the FM is coming down to a decent level but so is the FN and for me the DI, tyres, exhaust and new screen makes it much nicer.

I've had quite a few Fords, but it's the first Ford for over 30 years that I would love to own - mainly because it's the only RWD one, as all of my old ones were!

I hope all goes well with this one - no more errant Clios. thumbup

Been with the new Mustang a couple of weeks now, and all going well... It's a lovely car, a definite step up over the old one.

Someone above asked me about the handling, and I'm not 100% sure what Ford have changed on the suspension since my last one was built, or if its just the tyres, but it's vastly improved.

Grip in the dry is really very good, the only time I've had the rear end 'loose' has been on broken road surfaces and they seem to bite much better in the wet also. I had the car out on time tiny West Sussex roads around Goodwood at the weekend, mapping a drive for an event in August, and it took it all in its stride despite the roads being more suited to Minis that Mustangs.

Only downside I've found so far is the new active exhaust... It sounds gorgeous laugh That means every time I get in the car I set the exhaust to 'race' and then drive around everywhere in 2nd listening to the V8-goodness. That makes for 12mpg laughlaughlaugh

Have joined the Surrey Mustang Owners Club also - I'm not really one for owners clubs these days, but they seem like a friendly bunch, and have been along to a couple of their meet ups.

A couple of trips out planned this weekend, so I should get it up over 1000 miles, looking forward to trying out the radar cruise etc as well.

On a side note, my old Mustang sold for just over twenty grand as salvage... Given it required £8000 in parts alone to repair, there won't be much margin in fixing that. Or, as its unrecorded, it's more likely to be bodged back together and back on the road before you know it.

RK68 OBH, wouldn't want to buy that one.

It strikes me that these are still a performance bargain despite the price hike. A proper V8 with a much improved package and dynamics and you're going to lose maybe £3-4k a year in value?

I had a 4.6 V8 GT in the Middle East in 2010 and it lacked both the improved package and any real dynamics!

I think so... A big GT car with 2+2 seating, a 460hp V8 and a manual gearbox with LSD and all the toys for under £45k.

Been watching the old thread for a while, wish I could have afforded to trade up from my Ka on PCP (£79 a month, not a week but a month!) to a Mustang at the Farnborough Ford place, but I just don't have the money ! Got a Fiesta ecoboost instead (in 2016, where have the past 3 years gone?). Strange thing is, a couple of weeks or so before your incident I was driving on that stretch of road at the week-end and the traffic lights were playing up or were out (cant remember which), and even with little traffic it was already making things very difficult for those wishing to make right turns at the 3 key junctions.

Will keep a look out around Fanborough for your new 'Stang though !

Tomorrow it's my 11 month anniversary with the 2019 'Stang, so thought it's about time for a thread update.

We're up to about 9000 miles, and have had some great adventures. Mustang related events, Goodwood breakfast clubs, and at Christmas I took it down to Portugal as I was heading away for 3/4 weeks over Christmas and New Year.

No mechanical issues to report, and thankfully no errant Renault Clios... there is one small issue of the alignment of the passenger door, but Ford have agreed to re-align under warranty. I just need to find time to get it booked in to the body shop down in Basingstoke.

I've got two stand out memories from the past 11 months...

The first is the second day of the journey down to Portugal. Gary and I stopped in San Sebastian, which left around 1100km to do down to the villa near Lagos on the Algarve. I did the same journey last year in the old Mustang, no issues at all. This year was tough though... Gary overslept so we were late leaving San Seb, and then the traffic on the first leg down to Burgos was shocking. It was really slow progress and as we passed Valladolid on the way down to Salamanca, the thought crossed my mind that we might not make the villa that day, and may have to take a second overnight stop.

Then we hit the N-523, a super fast A-Road (well, it's not supposed to be super fast, but, you know).... That then took us up to the A6 and then down the E1... I don't think our speeds dipped much below 120mph all the time we were in Portugal - such beautiful smooth clear roads.

The Mustang is a great car for sustained high speed driving... 3000 rpm comes up in sixth gear at around 115mph, so the engine is always unstressed, and it actually returns sensible mid-20's economy figures. This new one is even more stable than the last, it has less bonnet 'flutter', the MP4S tyres help also, and the rev-matching gearbox makes down-changes for overtakes that little bit more satisfying.

The Mustang looked great parked outside the Villa, in the same spot as the old one last year.



The second stand out day has to be the first day of my journey home. Unfortunately Gary injured himself on New Years Eve trying to pick up a pool table that was bolted down to the floor... A muscle in his left arm gave way before the concrete, unsurprisingly... So he flew home on the 2nd, while I stayed down there for another week or so.

Being a man down was bad news for tolls. France is not a problem as I have a windscreen zapper gadget, but through Portugal and Spain I'd need to take non-toll roads to avoid pitching up at the booth and having to get out, run round etc... Not that I'm lazy, but the ensuring head shaking and horn honking from locals does my head in.

So, instead of the E1 back up North, I took the old IC1 and then lots of back roads all the way up to Caceres. It meant for slower progress, but I passed through some stunning scenery, bridges over reservoirs. Considering I've been head to Portugal all my life, it was great to explore a new part of it.

Just to add... The Mustang has been joined at home by an older cousin.

I started importing this from Utah at the end of last summer, and the registration paperwork finally went through at Christmas while I was down in Portugal...

Just last month we hired one of these in Miami and drove it down to Key West.

I just loved it, effortless cruising with the 10 speed auto box.







Made it all the way down there, drove about for 4 days and back to Miami on one tank.

My mate left his mark on the Keys...valet said make some noise...he missed the fact it was in gear, cue wheel spin and skid marks left wink
