I resolved the engine banging under hard acceleration by fitting a powerflex dog bone. Worked like a charm with the additional benefit of tightening up the gear change.

I'd also read about loosening the engine mount/pulling forward the engine trick but it looked like mine had already been done and couldn't be moved any further. Worth trying first imo.

Fantastic little cars!
I've replaced the dogbone mount bushes with Powerflex ones, still the same. Must have a broken gearbox mount I can't see. I need some time to pull it all apart, which I don't have!

Hmm, the images seems to have died in this thread. Not sure why. Anyway, here are some photos of it on kayak carrying duty!!

And at work...

All seems to be running ok. Got the MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed it passes.

Not really done much to it, been too busy with the TVR and the Caterham to be honest! I must get the scuff sorted on the front and the back bumpers though....

It's just passed it's MOT, first time with no advisories! Happy days, very happy with that.

Just goes to show that a little bit of maintenance often, goes a long way.

I've decided to sell the Clio, hoping to replace it with a Porsche Cayman S. Ownership wasn't quite what I was expecting/hoping for. I haven't tracked it, haven't taken it to any competitive events and I just don't have time for it, so I've put it up for sale in the PH classifieds.
