I found this thread after starting to research the C4S. Have to say OP this one looks great and good to see that you are using it regularly.
My ambition is slightly different in that I want a good one with lowish miles as an investment & toy for use during the summer.
I know full well you can't run a Porker on a budget - many years ago had a 944 which needed no end of TLC and £££s. But a 911 has always been ambition and when the time comes (and I have enough in the coffers which isn't yet) I want to make sure I get the right model.

The body of the C4S v the Carrera 2 does it for me and I think it will be an affordable classic. It seems to carry a lot of affection amongst the Porsche fraternity. Oddly, and I can't put my finger on why, it I find this model more appealing than say the 997, even though the 997 S is becoming very affordable. Which one would attract classic status first, if at all? Suspect the C4S?

I don't want to get too hett up about it being a classic, I love the marque and it seems from reading this thread everyone on here does too. I'd love to have an unabused example that I can keep for a very long time, and lose some of my endless urges to change cars from getting bored! biggrin
Interesting you mention the 7S. Ive been toying with the idea of swapping for one.

It's very tempting. For me the pro's and cons are:

7 C2s:

+2WD for more slidey
+front end looks better
+lower miles
+silver so looks cleaner!
+Faster

-Common as far as 911's go. Outsold the regular C2 by 8-1 IIRC?
-Silver so bit boring
-Rides higher
-Doesn't have THE BUM
-May drop in value in short term, 6 4S will likely rise. Already has done.

If you are looking for a C4S i know of one for sale same spec as mine, full heartache rebuild with black interior. 40K miles with tippy box @£25K

Great stuff and love the red interior!
It certainly divides opinion!

Thinking about sending the seats, wheel and gear knob off to southbound for re-trim in the same colour.

I'd consider a black steering wheel to accentuate the red.
That red interior is stunning.
In theory you'd think it would work but I've seen BOX's with black wheels and they don't look that great.

I've been looking at Cup steering wheels :-S

Cheers for the comments chaps,

The trackday at the ring was pretty bloody awesome. One of those days where you have to metaphorically pinch yourself, step back and appreciate the moment.

That was my first time round in the 911, I've lapped a few times before in my old MX5 and dos a handful of laps in pals cars earlier this year. After which I still didn't really feel like I was getting anywhere. The main thing that improved my lines was going round following an instructor in his RS7. Showed you what sort of entry speeds are possible, when to brake and perhaps more importantly when NOT to brake. There's loads of room for improvement. I was getting the carrousel totally wrong for example! I think that lap is around 9 Mins. I've set myself the goal of getting round in sub 8mins next year!

It's a wonderful place. Can't wait to get back!

Ps, I've got my eye on a pair of 997 sports seats in very good nick. Just working on the price...

I remember my 4S fondly. So reliable too. 4s styling with turbo engine would get me back into a 996
There's a supercharged one kicking around online!

I've got one and I'm not going to keep it as it's a bit small in diameter and in rim thickness. Also you have to reach much further for indicator and wipers. I'd prefer a wheel which is bigger and thicker. That might mean less leg room so I need different seats too. I'm almost 6 foot 2. What size are you?

Hi Mate,

Saw this car up for sale and thought it looked a good un. Nice purchase.

How do you feel about the red?!

Re steering wheel. I'll take that off your hands. How much do you want for it?

Alright mate. I follow you on Instagram so i thought i recognised the car. I know Ry Ingy aswell, used to work with the guy ages ago.

Car looks belting. My old man is after one of these soon but ideally a C2S in auto form. Pics of the Triangle look top aswell.
Hi Pal,

He'll be after a 997 then?

Can't you talk him into a manual? The tips are highly shameful.

DM me on insta when the time comes, I may know of a suitable car.

Welcome to pistonheads :laugh

996, funny headlights.
997, round headlights

C2 2wd narrow body
C2s 2wd narrow body (doesn't exist in 996 flavour)
C4 4wd narrow body
C4s 4wd wide body

To be honest I wish they did do a 996 2S in a wide body. Kind of a GTS spec.

If you want to have a mooch around mine one evening I'd be happy to help.
