Two new front tyres on the horizon, the ones on there are nearly down to the tread depth markers. I'll probably go with Continental again, I hear good things about the new Premium Contact 5's.
Two new Conti Premium Contact 6’s ordered and being fitted on Saturday. Ordered online and fully fitted locally for £216.46 which isn’t too bad. Other than that it’s just been fuel. MOT due in September. I was thinking about a change but plan is to go to Belgium and Italian GP’s next year so that’s on hold.

How many miles does the car have now ?
Last fill up was on Sunday evening when it had 65,779 miles. Reckon another 30 or so since then.

Wow didn't realise I'd not updated this for that long. Ticked over 70,000 miles earlier this month and last fill up was 70,273 at 39.13MPG over that tankful. It's a real battle to beat 40MPG although the OBC does consistently over read by around 5-6%. I've been quite gentle with it recently and it's not done much in the way of town driving so the last few fill ups have been close to 40MPG.

It's cost me a little bit this month too. £50 for a new passenger window regulator and Motor, it's been broken for over a year so eventually decided to get it changed over. Bought from Ebay and fitted by my Mechanic during it's yearly service which came to £255.05. Normally it's around £180-£200.

It also left me stranded at the local election polling place and required an AA call out. Flat battery which given the Auto-Stop hasn't worked for nigh on three years the short journey from the Supermarket to the polling place wasn't enough and it gave up. AA call out as part of my Premium bank account and a new Battery at Halfords for £136.00 including fitting which took about 30 minutes. A quick reset of the Battery Monitoring System and the Auto-Stop now works flawlessly. Given it's a 2012 car the original battery was 9 years old so it's had a decent innings.

I need to now fix the door seals, a common Focus Mk3 issue, and I've found a little bit of water in the spare wheel well so the boot vents need re-sealed with Silicon sealant, another common Focus Mk 3 issue. That also reminds me I had a puncture recently which was plugged by local mechanic and fitted back onto the car for £20 which is very reasonable. There's also a couple of pieces of interior trim I'd like to swap out as they're looking a bit tatty with chips and marks on them.

MOT wise it's been pretty smooth sailing. A couple of minor issues that garages like to pick up so they don't get investigated by VOSA for passing too many cars! I suspect it'll be moved on before the next MOT is due at the end of September but I'm open to suggestions. Must have back seats and would like a little bit more poke. Budget £8-15k, cheaper the better and nothing truly mental like AMG's or M3's please.

Oh the 'free revving' on overrun is still there despite the battery change. I've had it scanned by my Local mechanic and nothing has come up so I really don't want to throw parts at it without being sure it'll fix it. it doesn't appear to affect the consumption at all either.

I'm really considering one of these but I would definitely get a remap.

I had a similar issue of 'free revving' with my duratec Mondeo and it turned out to be a split breather pipe on the back of the engine. Tiny little thing it was too.
Interesting. Will make sure to ask mechanic to check for this next time.

Well, it is with great sadness that I report my Focus is being traded in tomorrow. And not even for another Ford either. I'm a bit sore from all the washing and vacuuming I did today trying to get the best value for my car on trade in.
I heartily recommend the Focus 1.6 Ecoboost 182 for anyone looking for a family car that has a bit of go to it!
What am I getting? Lets just say it's German and has a blue and white badge on it.

Some stats from Fuelio as I filled up today. I have a 400 mile journey to collect the new motor!
In nearly five years I've had:
149 fill ups
Used 4,238.29 Litres of fuel
Averaged 36.8MPG
Paid £4,979.32 in fuel at an average cost per mile of 14.5p or an average cost per day of £2.92
Covered 32,518 miles (will actually be more as I only started using Fuelio a month or so after buying it.

There will be a new Readers Cars thread going up soon for the new one.

German, blue & white badge = BMW. As you clearly require a family car my money is on a 3 or 5 series touring of some description.
Try the one between the 3 and the 5.

Just in the door so the new thread and photos will have to wait.
