Japfest 2 was a good show, shame its a lot smaller than the show at Silverstone and not a lot going on either, the "sprint course" was kept away from the main show, but it was good watching some track action.

Was also my first time at Donington, pretty quick track! Found it hard to find the line and pace and I only did a 20min session but the car felt great.

Nurburgring next week biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Looks great, is the latest picture on spoon springs + OEM dampers?
Yep, sits perfectly to be honest! Really nice ride height and an ideal firmness for daily use, kinda wish I just got these from the start!

Well the Nürburgring , what a place!

Drove from Newcastle to Hull Thursday night, ferry to Rotterdam, and drove over to the Nürburgring Friday afternoon. Arrived and was greeted by the noise of the VLN cars out practising for the race on the Saturday. We stayed at Hotel An Der Nordschleife which is literally outside the halfway point where you can come off the track, great spot with lots of things close to it, I'd definitely return here!

Friday we spent awhile getting to know the area, working out the viewing spots to watch the race from and took a trip up to the TF entrance and Devil's Diner. We also managed to get into the pit lane at the GP track to have a look round the VLN cars, some serious bits of kit!

Saturday was spent watching the VLN from the spots from the previous day, then Sunday was Mimms Honda Day inside the Nürburgring Boulevard and I planned to get some TF laps in too. Mimms opened at 10, but TF opened at 8, so we went there for around 9 and got my first lap in before heading to the show. This place is nothing like the games, the sheer speed, elevation changes, blind corners, dips and jumps... there’s nothing i could compare it too! After the lap, we headed over to Mimms, it was a nice change to see some new cars there as its quite often the same UK cars that turn up to the shows over here, after a couple hours there we headed back to do another 2 TF laps. I had only planned on doing a couple on this trip, but after those two, I bought another 2 which I did later in the evening. Monday we headed to the ring museum and took a steady drive back to Rotterdam for the ferry.

The teg was absolutely faultless the whole trip, even managed to get the whole trip from the ring back to Newcastle (400 mile) to one tank of fuel. I had half planned to sell the teg when i got back from something abit better on fuel, but after this trip and how well it’s been i just couldn’t bring myself to sell it. So now the plan is to spend a weekend getting the underseal refreshed and ready for winter duties, OEM wheels will be going back on but i may treat them to a fresh referb in OEM silver too.

I'll finish the post with the best photo I've had taken of the teg... had to buy this one straight away biggrin

Awesome mate. Sounds like a belter of a weekend.

Gutted you're no longer selling me your wheels but happy that you've found a new found love for the car. If/when you you decide to get rid then let me know, if I've not got myself a set of wheels by then I'll be very interested.

Look forward to more Teg content.
Thanks mate! Again apologies about the wheels but you'll 100% be the first to know if/when they go!

Good write up, and glad it went well!

Have you ever power tested the car with this set up??
Thanks!
I've not had it dyno, I'd be interested to see what it would make too, maybe if theres a dyno day local I'd give it a go. It seems to pull quite easily on EP3's so it feels pretty healthy!

Also, got sent one of the photos I bought this morning, standard Nurburgring photo biggrin

Some cracking photos there, car looks good mate. The Nurburgring is a special place isn't it, cannot wait to get my Teg there next year!
I know you're not supposed to time laps, but do you have a rough idea of what you were lapping in?

Are you on Instagram, I recognise the car but would like to follow your progress on there?
Very special it seems, I can't wait to go back already biggrin Judging by my go pro footage, my last lap my BTG time was around 9:50, my first lap I think could have been timed with a sundial, I think my indicator was on more than off for that first lap! I had played some GT and Project Cars before going, but nothing is going to prepare you that much when you actually realise how much elavation change and blind corners there are, I'm happy with SUB 10 anyway! I can see the appeal of pushing for quicker times too though, but it's all about bringing the car back in one piece!

Instagram is the same as my username on here, I don't use it too much though but there is a few photos on there!

Also came in the other day to find a nice speeding fine from Rotterdam, 58kph in a 50kph, 10minutes from the ferry port... 59 euro fine which I could have done without!

Cracking day at Cadwell, really good circuit and the car was faultless all day, well ran track day with MSV too, minimal red flags and when there was a couple they were dealt with super quickly. Few photos....

So I think that’s it for any track action this year I think! I’ve owned the teg for year in November... which also means MOT time, so I’ll give it a look over this weekend and see if anything needs replacing before then, I need to put my OEM wheels back on for winter too!

Well its about time I updated this... corona killed the teg!

So I started getting stuff ready for a summer of track days... nice easy job of new discs and pads, until the caliper bolt seized in both sides and snapped into the caliper itself. Took them off and took them into work, got one of the lads to weld a nut on to try and get the rest of the bolt out but no luck, in the end I got a company to drill and helicoil them for me.

Which meant I could eventually get them built back up with new Chook discs and a fresh set of PBS pads.

Not long after this, is when the whole corona stuff kicked off, I got put onto furlough and thought it would be a good time to get the car undersealed properly, so I decided to have a look down the rear speaker cover and down into the inner arch and sill... well I wish I never looked!

I thought this was bad, then started poking around and it soon became a lot worse... as soon as I touched the inner arch I started to see daylight where "metal" used to be, the more I prodded the worse it got. I left it a day to have a think, I know its not the end of the world and it could be fixed, but the car was my daily and I know good fab work isn't quick or cheap, the arch lips were getting a little crusty, there were a few spots appearing where the rear bumper bolts up. I knew it needed good money spending on it to make it properly right again and seeing that rust just really put me off, so I decided to sell the car on, it went a couple of days later.

After telling a friend about this, he offered me his R53 Mini Cooper S he bought as abit of a project but had too much going on, I'll save the details but it was a good spec car and at the right money, so I purchased that, and since have spent abit getting it prepped to take on track, I'm loving it so far! My first car other than my very first car that isn't a Honda. Might start a thread on the mini, but we'll see.

So there we have it, if it wasn't for corona or being furloughed, I probably wouldn't have looked yet and I'd still own the car. Overall, I absolutely the DC5, best car I've owned easily, ticks all the boxes. Would I own another? Probably not, being honest I got the car originally for a bargain price, so I knew this would happened eventually, but if I wanted another I'd want a fresh import, which means fresh import prices, and for the money I think there is better cars out there, maybe one day I'd have one again, but prices are only going one way.

I'll leave this with one good thing to come from being furloughed... I found a photo of the teg at the ring I hadn't seen before!
