What an awesome read! So happy to see you've kept with the A series too (in some form!).
Sounds like it's been off the road a real good while now so I bet you can't wait to get back out in it. Understand your position on the gearbox, I had a full rebuild to think about a few months ago and you can't keep your thoughts focused on potential problems when EVERYTHING could be the potential problem!
Also very envious of the fab skills and engineering
Yeah exactly my thoughts. It has been off the road 6 years now! If I can get it usable in the next couple of months and get everything tested and run in, then I will be much happier just having to focus on the gearbox itself.Sounds like it's been off the road a real good while now so I bet you can't wait to get back out in it. It's not a massive job to swap it all over, I could have it all swapped over and working in a week, once all the final mods to the box are finished. I can plod along with these over winter.

Why does this always happen haha. I find it's usually when something you have done that hasn't worked or failed prematurely and the willpower to redo something you've already done disappears.
Haha, I think I was gradually losing motivation, so I picked the easy jobs to get on with, to keep the project moving. Then I finally got to the point where I only had only the difficult jobs left, and that is where the gagare door was shut for a couple of years! My to do list was already quite long, and as I worked through them I stumbled across all of the other "little" jobs that needed finishing.
The wiring was the worst, I started that 4 years ago fresh in my head, 4 years later I am looking at it thinking 'why the hell did I wire it that way,' to realise several hours later while sorting something else out why I did do it that way, and it all made sense again.
Had my first proper drive today to test everything...good fun!
