Decided to take the plunge on a CTS Turbo Intake (AKA Induction kit) - reviews all suggest that these engines respond well to them with better throttle response and very mild performance increase.

That aside and, assuming it’s bks (nobody seems to report a down side) the sounds of the Turbo doing it’s work are vastly improved - see 3:20 onwards:

https://youtu.be/By8jcHHjRSg

Will be fitting after it’s serviced in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to getting it on, will be doing some before and after recordings.

Ive had my 2018 audi s5 sportback from jan 2021. Love the car. Only slight issue has been with the audi sos system playing up occassionally!
Looks really nice in black, I did accidentally use the SOS function when looking for the map lights once.

Today the car is in for an Oil service + Inspection inc Pollen filter, Brake fluid change, Suspension warranty work and the MOT. Very glad to have purchased the service package, was ridiculously good value at 25% off, plus 0% interest, plus a free brake fluid change.

Today's courtesy car is a 45 TFSI Audi TT - Appears to be FWD as in second it seemed to slip the wheels easily. It's a 2.0 T with 197HP. Feels pretty pokey, but lacks the sound and torque I have gotten used to with the 3.0 V6. The major difference with the interior of this car is the lack of a central MMI screen, everything is on the virtual cockpit, the climate controls are bedded into the air vents. It's a bit weird.

So far I have had a brand new A5 2.0TDI, SQ2 and the TT as courtesy cars - Nice selection but always glad to get back in mine after.

Air intake is getting fitted this evening.

Clean bill of health for the S5 today, all perfect.

Got the intake fitted after collection. Blown away!!! Sounds online do not do it justice, you can hear the turbo so much more.

Under heavy load low rpm it’s the loudest. Driving normally you can only just tell a difference, letting off the throttle after load is addictive. Performance seems the same certainly not worse.

The heat shield seems effective and fit well.

I have some audio clips I’ll upload at some point or get a mount for my phone to record it properly.

£3.60 later and I have sweeping indicators in the mirrors - ridiculously low price and relatively easy to install.

Compared side by side with the old ones, they are also far brighter.

The price was so low as it was a welcome offer on AliExpress.

And wider shot here - annoyingly it’s a short so can’t embed.

Bought a drone recently, going to be using it a lot - some great angles to be had…

And a car centric clip:

A boring update but the car is still fantastic, about to clock over to 40,000 miles so I’ll be booking it in for spark plugs.

It’s booked in for warranty work which, incidentally, is about to expire:

-‘Quattro rumble’ I.E vibration when turning at slow speeds is quite bad. Always has been, some people seem to have it, others don’t, I want audi to confirm all is good.

-Reverse camera is occasionally having a flicker in the image. It’s hard to repeat and I only just managed to get a tiny clip of it on film. I expect they’ll say no fault found.

-Water is being retained in the doors somewhere so a drain is blocked and if it’s going in anyway might as well get them to do it.

I have taken off the Air intake today - I really like the sound of it at full chat, but was a bit much for me under normal driving conditions - I.E lots of turbo noises.

It’ll be going up for sale if anyone is interested, otherwise will be on eBay on the next low fee weekend.

First two normal, third your guess at a blocked drain sounds likely.
The camera is intermittent but it didn't do it for the first 8-9 months of ownership.

Air intake is for sale here, I received a PM which I replied to but don't think you're getting the response if you're reading!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145306970271

Will do it cheaper off eBay if interested.

I've no idea exactly why they do this, and they can be "normal" for ages then when you least expect it there will be horizontal fuzzy lines across the screen for a moment. I've just been moving an S4 (same age as yours) around the yard that did just this on me then cleared as quickly as it started.

I couldn't tell you if Audi would consider it a "fault" or not, but it seems to be something they do. An annoyance rather than a breakage, perhaps?
Yeah may well be and fine if so ! Whilst I have the warranty though might as well get it checked.

Fair play got it right haha.

-Noise on full lock - normal, tested against others on the forecourt too and all did the same.
-Camera - Known issue but couldn't replicate, apparently there is a software fix being worked on and I have been added to the list, believe it when I see it, really isn't an issue though just wanted to raise it in warranty.
-Water in the doors - Known issue with known fix, actually in the side skirts. Not covered under warranty despite the fix being seemingly to drill a hole in the skirts! Assured me causing no damage, I'll sort it myself when its dry.

I've now had the car 1 year! Have done about 8,000 miles.

Decided to extend the warranty - £1,000 for 2 years seemed reasonable and can be refunded pro rata if I sell the car. Means the car would have been under manufacturer warranty all its life until 8 years old, with full Audi history to boot.

Hard wired a dash cam today in a very boring update.

The car will very likely be for sale in the new year if anyone is interested feel free to DM me - Will be requiring a boring station car.

The dash cam is a bit of an upgrade in my old one, 70mai.

Kit including 70mai hardwire kit:

Also purchased Mini fuse taps to hardwire.

Cable routing:
Power - up to headliner, across to A pillar, down and into side fuse panel. Permanent live is plugged in here, a handy YouTube video suggests all of these are permanent live. Earthed to a nice easy 13mm here too. Ignition live can then be routed downwards into the footwell fuse box.

Rear camera - up to roof liner, into the rear view shroud, across drivers side headliner, then following roof line/B pillar to the rear hatch.

Camera has a parking mode that initiates when it detects the ignition is turned off, not sure how this works exactly but will find out!

Front and rear records onto separate files on the SD card and can access files via the app.

Cool!

Do you have much call for the back seats? Long distance comfort for passengers is of interest, and these do seem to offer some VFM.
If you do go looking and want a look at mine let me know.

Front seats are epic, great support, electric lumbar, electric bolsters, fully electric adjustments, heated and massaging!

The rears are pretty good, not had any complaints but they’re used infrequently in mine. The sloping roof doesn’t impact headroom too badly as the seats are quite low. Think the tallest person I’ve had in the back was 6ft and they were definitely ok.

Sportback has 3 rear seats, think the coupe has 2?

Great thread and just read throughout after purchasing a B9.5 s-line in Navarra Blue coupe over the weekend (albeit not an S-model, or sportback).

First job after reading this thread will be checking the leaf deposit box! Also will be going ahead with the all-in package Audi are currently offering with 2 services, MOT's, warranty and roadside assist for £602.

Mine has done 33k miles, can I ask where do you get the information from as to when things are due? You said the sparkplugs at 40k for example.

Lovely car and if I wasn't doing so many miles a year I would have definitely looked at the S5.
Cheers! I had a coupe 9.5 A5 as a courtesy car and it was lovely. In fact think there’s a pic of it earlier in the thread. Have had that, an SQ2, TT and A6 from them so far - all great except the TT which I felt was cheap inside.

Think that was in the online manual in the Audi app I saw it. Not sure if 40k is normal for plugs or not as despite this being my 24th car I don’t think I’ve ever had to change them before!

Great looking car. I've been reading through some Pistonheads threads on these, I have a 2017 M4 Competition Pack at moment which has been a great car for me, but am finding it a little stiffly sprung for the commutes I'm doing now, which involve a lot of back roads (often poorly surfaced) and could also now do with 4 or 5 doors.

Don't want a diesel or SUV, and would still like a car with some pace and performance prowess but maybe not as focused as a //M car or RS model - these seem to tick a lot of boxes and represent very good vfm. And relatively easy to get decent power out of too with a stage 1. How do you find the ride quality?
Cheers!

In terms of ride quality on the whole it’s ok, but to be honest I do find it a little hard for my liking and the driving I do/ local roads.

Some have adjustable suspension but assuming the settings are soft, medium and hard, I don’t know where the standard suspension falls (presumably medium).

I recently had a ride in Funk’s coupe and then I did the same journey in my Sportback with him as passenger.

Pretty sure the rear of my Sportback feels harder on bumpy roads than his coupe, but I think sound plays a part. The coupe has more separation from the boot area whereas the Sportback is closer to an estate with a different shape hatch. Read, Sportback isn’t as refined imho.

But I am a fussy bugger and hellbent on rattles and noises that I can’t figure out!
