Hopefully the V5 won't take long. I had to do send for a replacement once and it took a couple of weeks IIRC.

Damn, wish I'd kept mine now! I did drive it a couple of months ago, as I sold it back to the previous owner.

New headlining is around £150. See how you get on with seats - may be easier swapping them for a replacement set on ebay as they seem to be cheap.

So, 7 years ago I bought the car in the OP, and 5 years ago I sold it back to the person I bought it from, who had owned it almost from new.

Today, I have just bought I back.

What a spectacular machine! It’s had lots of work done which I will update on in due course, but for now I am just going to drive it.

So, over a year into my second ownership of this car and it’s been great. So lovely to drive, and I think its looks improve every year when compared to modern cars.

As a recap, the car has been very well looked after and has had the usual work done like new chains and tensioners, and also upgrades like the Powerhouse lower pulley and a stainless exhaust. It has also had a full body restoration about 4 years ago with new panels and a full respray etc.

Inside the headlining has been replaced with black alcantara and looks great, and it has upgraded speakers and a discreet Bluetooth system. Also, numerous other touches over the years such as the US spec side lights etc.

I’ve only done about 1,500 miles since I bought it again and it has been great. A small bit of welding for the MOT, but otherwise faultless. I’m definitely holding onto it this time!

Here are a few pics from when I took it to the Jim Clark museum, and very nice drive and an enjoyable day. Seems a lifetime ago in these COVID times!

Your car looks great! I love the X300 XJR wheels, they really are a design classic, with a nod to the XJ220 wheel design.

Plus they featured on perhaps the coolest XJR of all, the Thrust SSC Fire Support Car.

Quick update, car is still great and is hibernating away in the garage. Cannot wait until the weather gets better and I can take it out again. Ahhhh.

Will try to get some pics of the Alcantara headlining, but I’m a rubbish photographer and haven’t managed any good ones yet!
