Bought a really scruffy one for £180 last year. There's something satisfying about using such a basic car- although I had the 45bhp fuel injected version!
If it was a pre-facelift, like this one, it wouldn't be injected - that only came with the square headlamp facelift.Great little bready, bloody low mileage to.

Needs a 3F GT engine or maybe even a G40 chucked in there!
I'l be putting a 1.4 16v AFH engine into a 1982 bready in the spring. With a 4 branch manifold, decat, CBA and a remap it ought to be good for 120bhp which in a 700kg should be good for 40+mpg daily use and sub 15sec 1/4s Chicharito said:

T'is indeed a post facelift breaddy. Spanish built, unfortunately. Still a personable little thing. I recently did my first ever head gasket replacement on it and it was a pleasure to work on.Nice bready, good to see one being kept standard, had 3 facelift coupes & loved them to bits

Watching in anticipation, want to put that engine in my mk1 golf on mpi & standalone.JAHetfield said:
Believe it or not, I was offered a grand for it the other day. I asked the guy what he wanted to do wit it. He said he was gonna rat it out, sand all the paint off, fit coilovers and a set of wide rims. I told him to get out of my yard lol. It's so hard to get an original car these days and I want to keep it that way.
Yes, the rat look on a car that was near scrap isn't so bad (though not to my taste) but to do it to a really tidy car is vandalism. It's not even individual these days; so many slammed cars that have either been sanded or black-boarded and they look awful. I suppose they're looking after the distaste of the classic scene but by the time they've finished with it the car's only fit for scrap.Wow, it is amazing to see a Polo as good and as original as this. I'm glad you're not modifying; I have nothing against modified cars, but when the starting point is as good as this car, then original is definately the way to go.
I far prefer the 'breadvan' Polo. The coupe just looks like every other hatch and lacks the pretty and delicate and lines of its predecessor. The breadvan is something different - an unusual and stylish micro-estate, and much more cool!
