What symptoms are you experiencing regarding the engine mounts?
I've got three new ones to fit to mine (upper engine, top gearbox and bottom gearbox). Replaced the dog bone mount for a poly one a few months back.
Apparently the upper engine mount is the same as the Kangoo mount, which just so happens to be considerably cheaper than the 172 one.

I resolved the engine banging under hard acceleration by fitting a powerflex dog bone. Worked like a charm with the additional benefit of tightening up the gear change.
I'd also read about loosening the engine mount/pulling forward the engine trick but it looked like mine had already been done and couldn't be moved any further. Worth trying first imo.
Fantastic little cars!

I've replaced the dogbone mount bushes with Powerflex ones, still the same. Must have a broken gearbox mount I can't see. I need some time to pull it all apart, which I don't have!I'd also read about loosening the engine mount/pulling forward the engine trick but it looked like mine had already been done and couldn't be moved any further. I loved my 172 cup!
What springs have you got on at the moment? Cooksport springs are a worthwhile mod, 35mm rear drop and 25mm front from memory, transformed mine.
We've all had to replace the engine mounts too - woefully rubbish!
I'd get your head under and check all exhaust mounts too, they go...often.
I have a spare set of rear calipers left over from mine, if you needed them.....

Hmm, the images seems to have died in this thread. Not sure why. Anyway, here are some photos of it on kayak carrying duty!!
And at work...
All seems to be running ok. Got the MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed it passes.
Not really done much to it, been too busy with the TVR and the Caterham to be honest! I must get the scuff sorted on the front and the back bumpers though....

That is a shame. That said, it does sound a little like my 106 GTi ; that came with a generous description to say the least and it was a bag of nails!
My Clio in terms of rattles is fine surprisingly but it has to be said that I kept my 'what car' choices open and in the end curveballed on choice due to the condition of my 172. It has been said by many it is in great nick! I intially thought I overpayed if I am honest (it cost around 60% more than yours) but I have to say it has been superb. I guess it all depends on what example you pick. For instance, never quote B6 Passats to me ; it would take alot (and I mean being paid money!) to own one again after the issues I had.
