If PH had a spine they should invite the unnamed third party to present the facts in a public forum.Not that he has them.
PH "having a spine" and sticking to some sort of moral high ground would lead to the whole thing escalating and ultimately it'd all end up having to be removed, which wouldn't be very effective, despite them being able to be very proud of their virtuous stance, for what good it did...
By keeping this thread (and others) non-specific, there's no problem with legal threats of defamation, nothing libellous, and the thread can continue to present the honest facts that occured and be effective in telling the story of what went on.
Why people can't understand this is beyond me, constantly bringing up names of third parties because it's funny doesn't help matters, and ultimately makes the thread less effective.
George is rightly not trying to link this thread to any specific dealer, and having people jumping to conclusions or drawing parellels doesn't help him get the result that he (or any of us) would like, so lets try and play the long game eh?
The time has come to close this thread. There are a few things that we would like to clarify:
Firstly, we were unaware of any legal proceedings taking place between parties outside of PistonHeads. There are thousands of posts on PistonHeads every day, and we do not keep track of everything that’s happening in the forums, unless it’s reported to us for moderation.
To respect all parties involved, we have taken the decision to remove the PH Meets feature from PistonHeads. To reiterate, this was an editorial piece of content; it was not paid for, and any promoted content on PistonHeads is clearly marked as so.
As we are now aware of ongoing legal proceedings we will not accept any further discussion of this on PistonHeads. New threads will be closed and while we really want to avoid suspending or banning members, we may ultimately have to do so if our rules are not respected.
We recognise that this will likely cause frustration, but we strive to remain neutral given the ongoing situation.
