RS6 C6 V10 - Standard... for now!
Discussion
Whoops, forgot this thread existed!
I let it go a few months back, lack of use and forever maintaining it when things constantly went wrong, and it was constant!
In the end up, the drains in the scuttle panel were blocked and water found its way in to the body control module and knocked out absolutely everything - New module and a nightmare coding it, I eventually got it going once more, but the whole ownership was a sour experience and I would never touch one with a barge pole again. DRC started having intermittent faults in wet weather as well.
All in, with engine out, tyres, servicing and repairs I was well over 7k in the end up, and for the 9 months I had it, that’s obscene.
Great car to drive, Power was something else, there’s just a balance on how much you spend versus what it’s worth - unfortunately it’s now getting into the dangerous territory where they are falling into the wrong hands and people can’t afford to maintain them, so there will be some absolute dogs on the market.

I feel your pain almost.
I had an '08 for 18 months around the same time you had yours. Luckily it had Audi warranty as they paid out 17k in the time I had it. Usual suspects, oil seal, water pipes, lambda sensor. Worth noting that the engine had to come out for the lambda due to access.

My experience is slightly better..I have a good local mechanic I use and trust with mine..if you are lucky enough to be able to do the same the ownership experience is wonderful..that V10 is an awesome beast of an engine,,downside is the NIP i recently received, should know better at my age
i think its hit and miss with these.
Ive known dozens of cars, including my own that have been trouble free. However the known issues are the coolant pipes and oil leak.I also know of some that have been dogs, mostly down to being driven hard and having little mechanical sympathy. The problem being the amount of heat generated by the engine knackers some seals, so preservative maintenance is key.
I had a 10' saloon which spent a lot of time and money improving at MRC, and adding ceramics etc, however the audi warranty was a god send when i had two issues, one was the oil sensor, the other was a failed injector. But in the 4 years of knowing the car, and its current owner its been very low maintenance, other than the fuel bills!.
People forget that this is now a 9yr old 80K new car, they will not come with low bills and need to be looked after. I could compare this to my Sl65 which is forever going wrong even though its a weekend car and stored in a heated garage.

Interesting comments all - I do miss the car at times, it’s still for sale so I see the ad every so often.
I had a great local garage look after mine - they done all the work bar the module. Was very fortunate to have them, they took great detail in the oil seal and pipes job, catching a lot more issues than just the seal. When I see other posts regarding deals, I just wonder when the next failure that hadn’t been identified will rear its head.
I thought about a GTR for after the RS, I went back to my roots and bought a rather rare Subaru Impreza, got a Legacy turbo Estate for daily duties and stuck some money by for a rainy day.

Those of you guys who have been lucky/ unlucky in owning one what car did you move on to from the rs6, not sure what else to look at.
Many thanks
I was in Dubai so, realistically, the RS was my wife's car in the UK. She made me sell it because it was just too thirsty for the school run and 'too refined' for the Devon country lanes. Many thanks
I bought her a 1993 Defender 90 200Tdi. It has taught her a lot about a) Home mechanics, and b) Not moaning about having a nice car.
We now also run a Golf R32 each (one in UK and one in Dubai) as a semi-compromise. While I save for something pointy.

I went for a low mileage SL500.Many thanks
Also very capable of throwing a right git of a bill!
As for where next?
I don't have a clue.
Keep trying to get the maths right to go AM. Vantage or DB9.
